She was lucky not to have experienced that, unfortunately not everyone is that lucky, I wasn’t treated well, I’m not black but from a different country and was treated really badly by many people, and it’s interesting because I’ve never had any American person do that to me, but she says America is more like that than Australia. Very interesting.

Same, she was very pleasant when she was on tour and came into the electrical store where I worked, to buy an electric frypan. The local Travelodge didn't offer much fare that was Jamaican she said, and she wanted to cook up something tasty. She was a nice, unpretentious person, and it seems, still is.

@@royboy4571 Its sad listening to Jacinta Price talk about aboriginal communities where women and children are treated so badly by their own men and its till happening today....There has always been bad and good in all cultures and historical times it comes down to the fall of man....Australia would have always been colonised no matter what...So I think Australia has done pretty well as a whole...When it comes to really helping Aboriginal communities I think there is an agenda not to do it deliberately so the powers that be can take over aka UN and other unelected bureaucrats...Much of the money directed at Aboriginal communities never get there its all stolen by corrupt politicians and organisations along the way
@royboy4571 Жыл бұрын
@@leevan2332 Look, I think Jacinta Price, was used by the conservatives to assist them in defeating a call to do better for indigeneous by getting an indigenous person to can it. Its a typical playbook of the right, if you wanna convince that racial based policies are bad, get a person of that race to poo poo it. I mean all JP did was to try and highlight, indigenous domestic abuse, which is fine, what about just domestic abuse. There are plenty of white men out there abusing and killing their partners. Very disingenous. But I think thats the problem, Australians think we did a pretty good job on the whole. We didn't, I mean we first killed them with disease, then tried to wipe them out and then tried to breed them out, I mean read the the Architect of the White Australia policy, Alfred Deakin, who said a continent reserved for Anglo-Saxons only”, which “necessitated ensuring the elimination of the Aboriginal population”. As for your claim about corruption and money not getting there, I can't speak to that, because there is no empherical evidence to back that up. But if you agree its being done wrong by either welll meaning or corrupt politicians, doesn't it makes sense to get input from the indigenous people direct, hence the voice/

@royboy4571 Жыл бұрын
Not really, that falls into the other category, if we don't mention racism it will just go away. Marcia, is lovely, but not profound. Marcia is an African American entertainer, who of course would never had the lived experience of an indigenous person. And of course no one goes looking for it, but it did find her when she was cast as the black Mary Magdlene This crap just confirms your own bias.
@johnc9612 Жыл бұрын
fail to make any sense of your reply," Dont go looking for it", the streets are full of racists looking for a fight, so BS to that. "Marcia is an African American entertainer" so what? "My Bias" have absolutel no idea where that insult came from.if you are suggesting bias against our indigenous, I will ask you these questions. How many indigenous Australians have you enterained in your home? how many have invited you to theirs,? how many campfires have you shared with them? I can answer yes to all three, how about you? however if actively opposing anti semitism is a bias, I wil put my hand and be proud to do so@@royboy4571

it's funny growing up during this period. i, my parents, friends, teachers, never thought of race like to we today. Marcia Hines was just another singer on television. if she was judged it was with record sales, not the colour of her skin. i think as a majority we where truly colour blind. yes times have changed, high-lighting Aboriginal troubles with assimilation, poverty, amongst many other things, but tackling it via the race card just opened a can of worms that instead of tackling the problem sensibly, we just seem to be fanning the flames instead. the radical left, or what ever you want to call them, will not be remembered for positive outcomes but for divisiveness. such a shame.

Well that doesn't match my livid experience, indigenous people who were routinely derided when I was growing up in the 70 and 80s, my most vivid memories being at the football when the Krakour brothers, Robbie Muir, Nicky Winmar, Michael Long were absolutely vilified by supporters and players alike. And you know its still going in the 21st century, Adam Goodes, Herita Lumumba, Andrew Krakour etc Got a better story for ya, in WW2 the Negro Americans were treated so well in Brisbane by the Australians, the white US servicemen got so annoyed they were banished them up north. I think we Australians always had viewed African Americans as cool and exotic. Meanwhile, despite the willingness of indigenous Australian service men to serve in WW2, social discrimination was rampant, and amongst other things, they were not allowed to drink in pubs with whites. Oh by the way, how else do you tackle the indigenous gap, other than via the race card, the whole thing is about race. PS The amorphous woke mob, is a right wing talking point done to discredit any reform or policy, the right wing doesn't accept.

_Amazing Grace_ was written by former slave-trader John Newton who became a Christian. The song is about how amazing God's grace is that He would accept even someone like Newton. Newton went on to be one of the main people urging and helping politician William Wilberforce to get the British Parliament to abolish the slave trade and then abolish slavery itself.

A truly beautiful woman, inside and out. My parents were big fans which meant I became a fan, too. I still remember, in the seventies, asking my father "There's something different about her, what is it and why?" and he just said "She was born in America and she moved to Australia, so she talks differently to us." And that was it. No mention of the colour of her skin, just that she talks different. And 8 year old me said "Oh yeah, that makes sense."

My Dad was born in Amsterdam and got called a Clog Wog at school, but he laughed about it because he thought it was funny. My wife is Chinese and my circle of friends is still just broad as it was back in the day. In all honesty most Australians dont give a $hit what nationality someone is, as long as they put in the effort and respect others. There will always be ar$eholes no matter where you live, including Australia. Marcia Hines like most immigrants rose above the few idiots and just got on with it. More power to her 👍*
