I’m so sorry Jane. I live in Charleston South Carolina and flooding is very frequent here. We have a lot of underground water pumps but it is routine to use lots of sand bags aroma areas like your bread oven and pathway. You and Tony might want to consider investing in them. Because you don’t know how high it will go, you might consider putting them at all your doorways street side and garden side. I’m thinking of you both and hope this ends soon!

When it goes down to normal or hopefully lower than normal, Tony maybe should try to construct a watertight barrier at the bottom of the garden. Yes a huge task I know……… possibly using glass-fibre panels. To stop water seepage onto the garden and into the tower house.

What havoc this weather manipulation has wrought on us all…besides the flooding, there is the exposure to the toxic chemicals that these criminals use! Praying for you both this doesn’t go beyond the town walls/bridges. Suggest getting some sand bags filled and placed around your sensitive dwelling doors/windows. Do you need fresh water for drinking/cooking/bathing? Does the town have an evacuation plan if people must go to higher ground? So much has also happened in the US with created storms, tornadoes, high heat & humidity & bad air quality! Thank you for sharing. Our thoughts & prayers are with you.

Well Jane; that is considerably more water than before😮!!! Your right though the moles may high tail it to higher ground, and chickens would too bet they be on the roof or in the trees or up by your kitchen. This is troublesome but there would have to be a catastrophic rain storms and the river would have to rise over two times to get to a habitable part of your buildings. My only worry would be the old roofs that you still have and the xtra damage you maybe taking on from the rain. 🌊🫨 Always in my thoughts 💕take care!!!

You need to get a few water tanks. While it's this high in the river, you will be allowed to remove water from it. France is likely to have a period where you are not allowed to use water to water the garden again like last year. This way, you will have a save supply.

We are also getting flooding here in USA. My garden vegetables have started to grow gills. Take heart dear Jane, it is not a very wide river, which can be more damaging in the end. but it is not too bad. No use standing and fretting about it, there is a overflow, but there is nothing you can do about that, except trust that all will be fine. I was thinking of placing a barrier outside the entrance to the oven and you can remove it after, but your garden could flood on the grass side. I believe it will not become serious, you will just have to stay away and off the grass area until dried out. I believe you will be fine. Let it go and have a cup of tea. Many blessings.

When we have flooding in our town the river usually produces a whole load of debris like branches, etc. It then gets caught up in thé bridge arches which makes it all worse. I know it’s a big worry for you but you don’t seem to have any debris collecting under the bridge which would be a disaster for you because the water would just back up. The water usually goes down fairly quickly but I hope you don’t get more rain for a few days at least.

@@notquiteachateaudiy ……. Well done jane. 👏 I had the same thought when I watched that vlog……… I suddenly remembered that in my garage somewhere was a pair of green waist or shoulder height waders, that I brought home in 2014. They belonged to an ex boss and friend that died using a circular saw in his workshop. Very sad, he was a good friend to me many times. But he had a pair of those waders which I found when I cleared out his numerous outbuildings, helping out his family. He had only I’m sure used then once or twice in a man made small lake he had made on his property. I thought I’ll take them home as they would only of been chucked into the skip. When I watched your vlog I thought of those waders, still don’t know of course if they would be the right feet size for Tony and as I said already……. are in my garage. But my garage is like an overcrowded Brocante 😂 and I never got around to looking for them. Anyway Tony has some now so that’s good. x

Sorry this is happening - its nice living beside water but with the weather the way its going...this is happening all over the area. You may want to consider building a barrier in that landing area to the river and maybe even making the cement walls higher..or having sandbags in storage ready to go..It won't prevent flooding but definitely less water coming into your property. Unfortunately this is becoming the norm. Hope you get sunny hot days to dry your dry out your property.

This is man made most likely. It would be nice that you could find a way to store the water for times when you will be in a draught and then you would be able to water the gardens. I am sorry that you are experiencing this. Water can cause such damage. Stay safe

Weather extremes are and will be the norm. This is what we have done to the planet. We have no choice but to get used to it and do the best we can.

Thank you. I live sometimes near Paris but in the summer go down south near Carcassonne. Nobody has ever seen rain like this…even yesterday my children were at the house and said it was cold as winter. Your house looks solid!

I do not see how you will save that bread oven building, when you are finished it, the river floods right inside it again.

I think we just have to lay a stone or terracotta tiled so it won't do too much damage if it floods Ava, need to think about it yes
