I've tried every overstable spproach putter on the market and I consistently come back to the Z-Flx Zone! The slight puddle top allows you to s curve at low speeds for woods golf and absolutely CRANK on it to get to about 310 and have it go straight to hard fade at the end. The Savior does have great hand feel though!

Got a prototype and I've got the same issues with it especially on forehands. When you put power behind it the discs straightens out where others in this slot will push more but hold the line. Also definitely doesn't fight out much, that can be good or bad.

I just bought a disc called the Battleship. It’s an overstable midrange but it may replace my approach discs too. It immediately made my bag, just incredible.

I’ve never won a give away but I think it makes a lot more sense for you to have them on the Patreon instead of KZbin and Instagram. Also, I REALLY like theJohnny Putter reviews concept! I just picked up my first Zone a few days ago. I too suffer from baby hands so it feels so perfect for me. I also wanted it because of the specific lack of glide so I don’t really feel like I would like the Savior much.

The Jarn is even shallower than the zone, in my experience. I think the rim also gets narrower from top to bottom, the opposite of a plus rim, so it almost has an incut feel. The really flat top makes it quite overstable and takes out most of the glide as well, so it really is a true approach disc. Compliments the Berg really well.

I've tried a Harp, A3, and Zone and the Zone remains in the bag. I almost ordered one of these and based on your description it sounds similar to the Harp which for me is a glidier, deeper Zone. Thx for timely information.

So the diameter of a disc won't really determine it's speed, but generally the larger diameter discs (21.5 - 21.9cm) discs are reserved for the midranges, where the small diameter (21.0 - 21.4cm) discs are generally used by all disc types (putter/mid/driver). Some approach discs tend to be a little bigger in the small diameter range, and that's where the Savior apparently was aimed for with it's 21.4cm diameter. The thing is, the diameter affects the max legal weight a disc can be used in PDGA-sanctioned tournaments. So a large diameter mids can be heavier than small diameter discs. But some approach discs with larger small diameters like the Savior can have a heavier max weight than 175gm and still be legal. It's max weight per the PDGA is 177.6 grams. But the bottom line is: the speed of the disc is more affected by the rim thickness (aka wing length) as well as the aerodynamic profile of the disc. The Savior has a 1.2cm rim thickness, and the rim configuration of 46.75 is fairly aerodynamic and is close to the 46.0 of the Zone. The Toro actually has a 68.25 rim configuration so is less aerodynamic than those two. The rim configuration isn't the only aspect that deals with aerodynamics, but is the leading edge of the disc while in flight.

I think you did both yourself and the disc a disfavor by coming in expecting it to be an over stable approach disc. It's a lot more of a slightly over stable mid range, like an anchor. Even when you through the whole video say that it's not quite like the zone, you still keep to try to force it into that slot...

Came here to say that. Also cranking over on it like it’s a captains raptor doesn’t help the disc either. Some of these shots wouldn’t work with any disc in that slot except like a Justice or A2 or something… Zone OS.

This sounds like a disc they already make: the suspect. That is a straighter zone but thanks to the greater plastic options you can get something more stable or less depending on the slot you're looking to fill.

Also got a Loki that is a bit faster and extra stable so several options. I don't know if it's good or bad too have the confusion that surrounds DM/=K=/Triology production...

How does it compare to the Innova Rat? Profile-wise it looks similar - my Rat isn’t as overstable (as the Savior or as advertised), but it’s definitely as glidey.

@@BodanzaDiscGolf Give it a shot! Innova calls it a 4 2 0 2 - it used to be 4 2 0 3. I'd say it's closer to 4 3 0 2 (or at least mine is). I also have baby hands, so it's a biiiiit deep, but nothing unmanageable!

I hate johnny. So many shared and adjacent fairways. Last time I was there I saw a young lady sitting at the tee pad bench for 6 get hit in the face with a driver by someone shanking a forehand on hole 8. It is always over crowded and can be played with just a putter. Back in 2004 it was a good course with quite a few interesting shots. The 4.4 rating on udisc must just be nostalgia from better times. Don't play there.
