(NOT THE) 100 greatest video games of all time from GQ

This is the edited down version of my stream on GQ’s 100 greatest video games of all time, a list that unsurprisingly turns out to suffer from recency bias and general exclusion of entire genres of video games, but instead is populated with several entries from the same series even when one would have been enough. Suffice to say this one’s for the most hardcore of my viewers, those who are exclusively interested in what I have to say about anything. Not for everyone interested in what I usually discuss here on the channel. It’s also not for Nintendo fans.

Awesome! I saw this go up when you were livestreaming it but I was working so that wasn't gonna happen. Glad to see it in video form for me to get through at my leisure now, 'cuz I am quite interested in this list and your perspective on it. Btw, I never gave a f*ck about Mass Effect either. It always felt like "imitation brand sci-fi" to me; a melange of generic militaristic sci-fi tropes and motifs that just wouldn't be as good as Star Trek, Starship Troopers, Babylon 5, Earth: Above and Beyond, Stargate SG-1, Battlestar Galactica (Reboot), etc. The stuff it was desperate to evoke, y'know? I've played a bit of them in the years since thanks mostly to Microsoft Rewards (having to play a bit of them via Game Pass, or rather EA Play _on Game Pass,_ to get reward points to put towards gift cards, lol) and I feel like I'm vindicated in that opinion. Though I admit they do play well, at least the remastered trilogy and the much-loathed Andromeda (from what I can gather though, people hate that one for general production values and story flaws, not due to the actual gameplay feel, which felt good to me, I dunno)

No classic arcade games, like Pac-Man or Donkey Kong? No HoMM? This list is crap No Diablo 1? The ARPG genre definig game? No Pong? In the 70s, all the gaming industry was just different versions of Pong! I can't get over it

Well, the list is only for the past 30 years, so anything pre-1993 was not gonna make it.
