FYI: The ubisoft "history edition" the music folder is called "theme" so renaming that one will stop the music. It also have config.json file, But that one seems not to work. Instead there is a folder named config where it is possible to open a program that is used instead.

Your texture issues are due to the Steam version of the game being bad, the GoG version of the game does not have these issues and is just a much better port

Thanks for letting me know. I can’t say which version I played back then, it's been almost 5 years since I posted this video so definitely 5 years since I recorded the footage. I can tell you that in the meanwhile I completely stopped buying stuff on Steam and instead getting things from GOG, especially seeing how two years ago I started pivoting my channel toward games from the '90s and '00s.

This is the first RTS game I ever played. In fact, it might even be the first game I ever played. My Grandad had this on his old PC, and I sank so many happy hours after school into it. He used to sit next to me and strategise while I'd watch stuff get blown up. Great times.

I got the game trough Level and bought it on steam a few years ago, decided to play it on stream, the only tedious thing for me were the pointless battles but I am so sad that we do not have a sequel to it .... I saw one of the devs talking about what they wanted to do and that was a prequel and a sequel but unfurtunatley we don't have Valkirie Studios anymore :(

The sadder issue is that whoever owns the IP currently doesn't seem to be interested in resurrecting it; the game could be quite a dope release if remade to more modern standards in terms of resolution and QoL

Man, I still remember how frustrating Force Commander was but I'm glad the RTS itch was stratched later by Galactic Battlegrounds. I know that was an AoE clone, but I spent waaaay too many hours in it, like with SW Chess earlier. Gungan Frontier is a title I haven't heard since forever but I'm glad you made the Spore connection because to me that was the "pre-Spore". Aye, I would still probably like Spore a lot even today. Yoda Stories is an absolute classic, I reinstalled it some months ago and got me hooked again, as simplistic as it is. I'm glad you didn't dwelve into action ones like TPM. Force Unleashed still holds up nicely but the film adaptations or whatever those are gave me a headache over the camera position. They're available on the PS Store still, but I can't with that fixed camera. And I really tried.

I don’t know if you are young enough to play it at release. If so you would know it’s not classic, it’s timeless! You have to live it to know how out of this world this game was back then. I am lucky to be there, it was a blast that last a life time!

Where could games like witcher 3, skyrim, starfield, cyberpunk, dragon age and mass effect!? Could these be classified as WRPGs?
@StefaNonsense
@StefaNonsense 10 күн бұрын
It depends a lot on how one defines WRPGs - my main characteristic being mainly PC-exclusivity, or at the very least PC-forward, meaning they should be developed to be mainly experienced on a PC - with a keyboard and mouse and everything that this entails: lots of dialogue options that lead to different reactions, several ways of solving quests including diplomacy and stealth-type approaches and of course, turn-based combat. The titles you mentioned wouldn't really make it into "my" definition of the Western RPG but they are clearly set aside from their Eastern counterparts through many more components, and my requirements are quite strict and obviously unpopular with the main bulk of RPG gamers out there. Ultimately it doesn't really matter in which category something fits as long as you're enjoying your time. And this is true for any media regardless of format.

Can I give feedback if you want your channel to grow? Or do you prefer to just do your thing, and allow whoever enjoyed to enjoy it? Cuz I was exited by the videos nice thumbnail and title. It's a cool topic. You had a good conversation. But maby the presentation was a little borring. I wish you had more energy. How can I be exited if you aren't? If you guys just wanna turn on the camera and talk then maby you could crank up your charisma. If you can't force yourself to do so then maby use this footage as a blueprint instead of posting it raw. Write it as a script to make it faster and more precise and read it out with energy. Maby add some more footage or music. Sorry if I'm rude and give opinions nobody asked for. But I really wanted to have fun with this video 👍

Imo, you should play the original, they cut puzzles, dialogue and also the death mechanic. The new content in dc really adds nothing relatively big in the main story and it feels a bit out of place. Also, the character portraits are a big turn off, at least for me. Still, they both add their own flare, the original has all the unchanged content but you might struggle with the low resolution graphics while the dc has more modern mechanics that might be more appealing to a new audience.

I played this as a kid and fairly recently. I enjoyed just as much now as I did then, though I think I had an easier time getting through the wits path as an adult. I absolutely made maps of the mazes. With older games there was an expectation that you would make notes. If you're interested in the story more than the gameplay, there is a comic book adaptation of Fate of Atlantis by Dark Horse. I'd love to see a remake of this game that keeps the puzzle elements, but beefs up the action.

Major tip: Spam the 'Bats Out Of Hell' Very Bad Thing. The game doesn't allow more than one bad thing at a time. Plus, Bats Out Of Hell actually make the Hell fate structures MORE efficient in punishment because who wants to live in a building covered in giant bat guano? Only downside (besides the need to continually select the bad thing) is it decreases efficiency of hell gates. Ever try it?

Combat also actually got one important update, between SL and D2. Ability to pass action. At times you may not want to kill the last enemy, so you could use that time to heal up your units, in D1 it wasn't possible to pass. There's option to have all enemy teams bear a flag, so it's easier to spot them on map, as well as command Ctrl or Shift, which gives you safe path around encounters. Gaurdians can be defeated, you can use shades or medusas to paralyze them, but you have to boost their stats enough for them to survive, don't think you can actually raise initiative high enough. It still takes a lot of time. It is also possible to outheal them. You have a limited number of turns to kill them too, before you're auto retreated from battle. You can still reenter the city, and guardian will have less HP. Anyway glad you've covered this considering it's one of my favorite games of all times, and I do believe it still holds pretty well

Wrong. DSL has Pass command that just skips the turn, as well as Retreat and Surrender. Surrender is the option which is non-existent in D2 and it instantly destroyed the party with no XP reward for the enemy. As for Pass, D2 replaced it with Defend and Wait, which are just more advanced versions thereof: one passes with a special status that decreases all direct damage received by half, and the other is just putting the unit at the end of initiative scale at the current round, saving the action.
