Turns out that Early Times Bottled in Bond IS the best $24 bourbon.......of 2020.
@jmsparger433911 ай бұрын
Saz bought ET BIB June of 2020. They needed 4 years to make BIB. Their version will be available somewhere between June of 2024 to early 2025. Until then tankard trucks from B-F continue to deliver juice to Saz.

The new "Sazarak" is actually the old BF. Next year you might get actual Sazarak. Being its Bond, you're going to get differences between bottles, not to mention one has had time to breathe compared to a freshly opened bottle.
@zeppelinish111 ай бұрын
I may be mistaken, but KY-DSP 354 should be on the back of both those bottles as the distilling producer. Brown-Forman sold remaining liquid stocks to Sazerac as part of the deal. When those stocks are depleted and Sazerac starts bottling their own distillate, the DSP number on the back of the bottle will change to reflect it. You will probably notice the second number is different. The Brown-Forman juice is now bottled at Barton 1792 (DSP 12?) but it used to be DSP 414 ( Early Times bottling facility)

Matt - you’re a lucky guy whose spouse bakes like this. Some tips on carbs I’ve learned in managing my health: Manage glucose and insulin. Glucose is like the house guest - welcome to come in but don’t overstay your welcome. Insulin is the bitch of glucose and your dark side. If you don’t encourage glucose to leave after their arrival (i.e. activity to move glucose into muscle then used for energy in movement), your dark side tells insulin to give glucose a big hug and shuttle it into your precious overtaxed liver or a warm and cozy fat cell. After a while, your body stops paying attention to insulin’s request to take in more sugar - it ends up storing more glucose anywhere it can tuck it in - usually in the liver, between your organs, as well as freely floating in your blood - insulin resistance. Minimize the amount of sugar you allow into your body. The easiest way is to eat as many foods possible that are as close to whole/minimally processed as possible. Bread is highly glycemic. Just about any products containing grain flour will rapidly metabolize in the digestive tract - some more than others. This is true for just about any refined macronutrient. Sourdough is a much better option though - probably about a third lower on the glycemic index. Anything sourdough will be a better option than an otherwise equivalent that hasn’t been fermented - consider what that word means and the lightbulb goes on. Still - try to keep your intake of highly digestible carbs to a minimum. Doing so will help minimize the insulin response. Insulin response has become a major focus in contributing to atherosclerosis. Acetic acid. This helps slow down glucose uptake in the blood, thereby lowering insulin response. Acetic acid sources most commonly found is in vinegar. Apple cider vinegar is most often used but fancier darker vinegars contain greater quantities of nutrients. Mix one or two tablespoons in some water and drink it through a straw. Sweeteners like monk fruit or allulose are non caloric and help with palatability. Dehydrated apple cider vinegar in capsules are easier to take and convenient - keep a ziplock bag of those in your man purse, gym bag, glove case, etc., so you can pop one or two before eating - the earlier the better before you know you’re going to eat. Coincidence: sourdough contains acetic acid. It’s one of the byproducts from fermentation - the tang you taste in true sourdough is acid byproducts of the sugars being fermented. Eat carbs later than earlier in your meal. Eat your salad/veggies first - no sugar in your dressing/condiments. Next eat your main - nix the potato/any other carbs - eat the bread at the end. Your insulin response will be lower due to the slower digestibility of the bolus ahead of it. Your appetite may also be lowered at this point because of the nature and amount of what you’ve already eaten, thereby reducing the amount of bread you may eat. Eating your starch simultaneously with proteins and fats also slows down the sugar uptake and insulin response. Be active post-meal. Taking a 10-15 minute walk is very helpful in dealing with your blood sugar. Even bouncing your knees while seated helps - any movement of your major muscle groups helps. Keep highly palatable foods out of your home/work space. Anything that you know will trigger your hunger pangs should not be easy to access. Products high in refined carbs (sugar, high fructose corn syrup, flour, etc), sodium, MSG/other flavor enhancers, highly processed seed oils, even stabilizers and emulsifiers are engineered to make one consume and crave more. This takes a lot of label reading, practice and self-introspection at first. Alcohol. This was a biggie for me and probably is for you as well. I went from 2-3 pours a night to two pours, five nights a week, then down to 1-2 pours, 3 nights a week. Now I’m down to 1-4 pours a month - was actually at zero for several months. This reduction is where I saw my most noteworthy results. Regular drinking when combined with the Standard American Diet (aka SAD), and reasonable activity levels were not helping me improve my health. Cleaned up my diet (KETO/Mediterranean hybrid), practiced time restricted eating (16-18 hours fast/6-8 hours eating window) while increasing my activity level showed noticeable improvements after about 1 1/2-2 months. After about 1 1/2-2 months of skipping alcohol, the weight started falling off very quickly to the point where my doc said not to lose anymore weight. I think my liver was able to function more properly. Alcohol has only one path in - the liver. Constantly overloading it was probably like that Lucille Ball scene where she’s trying to keep up with the conveyor belt wrapping the chocolates. I’m not suggesting this will work for you or to stop drinking. You have to determine what works best for you. The best change in your course is the change you can stay with. And there’s nothing bad about gradual change. The one thing I would keep in mind is the 40s. Once you hit this age range, you have the last opportunity to make changes that will give you the best long term outlook. Think of it as your Roth IRA for health. The sooner you invest in your health, the better.

I don't even want to *hear* someone praising a bourbon unless they state outright that it has a deep copper color, the shade of a four-times used but still unflushed urinal. A scent best described as a damp dog on an Autumn day, wrapped in a moist wool blanket and left for 30 hours in a closed garage. A middle section which reminds them of something smelled but not heard. And toward the end, an odor that softens out into that intoxicating convalescent home aroma of old flesh and 'Evening In Pasadena' perfume that excites the nasal cavity. Taste-wise, it *must* have the heavy notes of Yngwie Malmsteen followed by a hint of chuckberries and Bing cherries, culminating in a trace of Charlie McCarthy woodiness. And the flavor of "leather" and "tobacco"? Well,... *those* go without saying!!
