"The man in the attic makes three" as it cuts to Gryff staring blankly. Hilarious

My older brother got hold of a copy of "Hedgehog Sandwich" on vinyl when I was probably around 12 or so. I think he swapped something for it at school. It jumped 3 times as it must have had a scratch on it - during this song , "England in my Leotard" and the "I believe" song. We must have played that album hundreds of times, memorising it word for word - except those songs mentioned, as we missed out what we couldn't hear. Years later, thanks to KZbin, we knew what lyrics were missing ! The early 80's................fantastic !

This song is great. Although it's a parody for Barry Manilow, I consider it and its lyrics to be a nice song worth listening to. Great comic and somehow deep spirit of Rowan Atkinson, long before Mr. Bean. Watching the NTNON, Blackadder, The Thin Blue Line, and even Dead On-Time, all make me think humanity lost its spirit and sensation back in 70s and 80s. Although technology has given us a lot of benefits, we ourselves have lost our very essence of love and appreciation of time in this world. And I'm a young boy writing these, not from the old generation. Thanks for posting this video.

Brilliantly hilarious. ALL the NTNON programmes should be on DVD, only compilations are because of some worry about topicality and modern audiences not getting some of the jokes NO NO NO - ALL of it was funny, that's all that matters. !!!!!!!!

There's one sketch that played over the end credits of an episode that showed men in the trademark brown/tan BBC workmen overalls chasing kids kidnapping them in nets and loading them on the back of a truck only for the camera to zoom out and the truck to have "Rolf's Cartoon Time Audience" on the side... probably too offensive for modern audiences

It was different then. People went to university to become comedians, and had to perform in all sorts of ways there. Nowadays fads, focus groups and meaningless trends decide what goes in comedies. In 1979 it was Oxford and Cambridge professors. We have the comedy of the lowest common denominator by default, which also existed back then of course. But nothing has replaced the university comedy of Britain. It has ceased to be. I can think of about three good comedies in the last twenty years; Arrested Development, the Office and Peep Show. Other than that it's been all garbage. Predictably.

I find anti-Manilow group on here. Unexpectedly few...and there are only emotional opinions. After all Manilow studied at famous two music colleges in NYC and started as an arranger, producer and musical director and finally became a performer. No matter how you hate him he is the true musical professional unlike rag-tag rock musicians from around 70's.(except for Elton and a few) However Rowan Atkinson's voice and singing are soooo awful.
@MsLilly2012 Жыл бұрын
He has big successes as an all round player. Aretha Franklin hoped him to produce her album when she moved to the Arista Records because Manilow succeeded to produce Dionne Warwick in1979 which gave her first platinum album and two grammys. After all Clive Davis decided Luther Vandross to produce Aretha though.Others who Manilow successfully arranged and produced are Bet Midler,Nancy Wilson(jazz), Diane Schuur etc. All I want to say is that Barry Manilow is an outstanding professional who amateurs like you can never easily criticize. If you just say you hate his songs, wear a pair of earplugs.
