The devs pushed players to pursue that ending. I mean the whole setup was there. Nano, like many others chose it out of either curiosity or distrust for Adler. The devs put more work into making the detonation ending more "satisfying" than the other and it's evidenced by how both levels differ. The good ending is quite short, and has no unique big fight. Unlike the other where you're pitted against your former team. Then there's also the part where bell gets to give the order to detonate the nukes. So it's clearly meant to be the more fun ending out of the 2(3 if you didn't setup ambush).

I always felt like the American ending to this game could've been made more fulfilling by having Adler spare you, showing that your friendship did actually end up mattering rather than being only artificial. He'd tell Bell that he was ordered to kill them, but refuse and let Bell disappear.

Adler was never Bell's friend. He was just using Bell for CIA's purpose. The American ending serves the purpose of showing that CIA is a fucked up organization

A game that strictly focuses on a German force is just not gonna be as appealing as one with Muricans. If you were referring to a WW2 game that revolves around the German's Pov, I don't think any AAA company right now has the balls to do that because Twitter unfortunate stuff. BF5 putting in one mission where you play as a German was already like playing with fire.

Also, love how a German campaign was always out of question in gaming history, yet Soviet campaigns were also allowed to use their own flag despite being as oppressive of a nation as Nazi Germany was and doing just as many war crimes aswell. I bet you don't even know that USSR never commited genocide, unlike U.S., for example, they did that in Vietnam, killing millions of people, innocents, vietcong, and, at some degree - south vietnamese soldiers, sending them to fight against their own people in the north. In the past 30 years United States commited more war crimes and killed more people than any other country in the world, and it still remains the first one in the list of countries that committed interventions. Nano, you missed a secret in the Break on Through mission. At the start, follow Adler's description, pick up the M16, follow the path on the right, kill a group of VC and then Adler will talk about hearing soviet voices from a cave. There will be a statue to the right of the cave entrance near the base of the state there will be a bamboo hatch. Open it and climb down.

The player actually being Perseus the entire time without Adler's team realizing it would've been a pretty clever twist if you changed some dialogue. One thing that I really love about this campaign is that it actually goes that step further and let's you see what damage the enemy would have actually caused. They always say that the bad man will do bad thing, but when you never see it in any campaign you start to lose that idea of what's at stake. And nuking most of Europe works quite well to fix that I think
