One issue I have is trying to visualize what the marks are going to look like when they are down. I don't have much internal visualization so it's a bit of a mystery box. Obviously drawing a lot over time lets me have a feel for what effects I can achieve with what marks but it is still something I have to wait and see how it turns out every time. I figure I just need to draw more in my case and it will be easier to predict.

This is why I spend 2-3 mins experimenting with marks to check their effect is what I want for every drawing. 😀

I agree and I do it if I can spot the problem areas beforehand...but there seem to be so many decisions in every drawing - things that look easy aren't, etc. :)@@stephentraversart
