It's been a year and a half since Nike introduced the Phantom Vision, a boot that would replace the Magista line, maintaining the Flyknit aspect of the Obra, but adding their new Quadfit system. They were and still are excellent boots, but after a while, most people just lost interest.
Well, the Nike Phantom Vision 2 Elite is here, with a new look and a bunch of "new" features, or so Nike tells us. In today's video we take a closer look at the latest from Nike in the launch Future Lab pack colorway and talk about why the 2nd generation Vision isn't what I was expecting. I think it looks pretty sleek, definitely more streamlined than the initial one. Swoosh could use some changing. I do like the two tone idea, it worked out well on the Maestri II, so maybe they could do some similar color blocking.

I loved the first phantom visions and I used them for about half a season training 4 days and playing games on weekends and the toe completely ripped when I went for a tackle I’m buying these when they come out I really hope they have better quality

It most likely won't have. Nike Visions and Legends break often really quickly, and the Legends have had problems really long time.

On my phantom vsn 1 the grip triangle kind of gets loose, because it's only glued to the initial upper. I think that's an improvement on these new vsn 2

The collar is useful for some bad turfs. Some bad quality turfs have tiny stones or grass that get in the boots. But these collars would prevent grass from getting in.

It’s hard to adjust the laces. You don’t mention that it would be hazardous to cut the cover the way you did with vnm. What do you think? The legends with quad fit don’t have one? The gx cover looks similar.

I love the new PHanV2 elite design compared to the PhanV1. I have worn the MercSF elite for the last 5seasons & was looking into a more control boot rather then speed boot. I was very impressed with the PhanV2E. Great lock down, very comfortable, more so then the SF7 & the Predator Mut20.1, the other 2boots I was lookin at. I was surprised how wide the fit was. I have wide feet & the soleplate makes it look extremely narrow. But the fit was great, even more comfortable then the SF7. The sock(being lower the the PhanV1, & SF7) is the only major difference that I will need to get used to. Still, I definitely recommend these.

I do have a question: from your experience, what’s the expected damage when using these boots? I’ve had two pair of phantom visions and the outsoles always seem to detach from the boot within 3 months. I play on turf 2 times a week

Turf will tear up just about anything, especially an FG boot. If you're playing almost everyday and only have one pair of boots, 3 months isn't uncommon for most boots.

Looks very good to me. I used my vision 1s last year a lot and after all of the usage I did have tearing between the upper and the bottom of the cleat at the front. The added reenforcement in that area im assuming will solve that problem. The fabric on the inside of the cleat near the heel did rip also. I think they look very good and the pull tab is a good addition.

The Phantom Vision collar is the most unfairly maligned design element of any football boot on this channel, and particularly on Unisport. It works great at keeping the pellets out when playing on AG surfaces, and also feels very comfortable against my ankle.

They've been on sale for well over a year now. Boots go on sale after 2 weeks of coming out. You don't have to wait for a new model. Anyone that has Phantom Vision 1 in inventory right now is trying to clear them out, so come mid summer, I wouldn't anticipate anyone having them still.

Hey Josh, I have a pair of size US 8.5 mercurial vapor 12s and ive been experiencing consistent rubbing in the heel area and its been quite damaging to my foot. Does that mean I should go half a size down? I've seen your videos on boot sizing and a US size 8 leaves pretty much no room in the boot although it isnt too uncomfortable. Do you have any suggestions?

Anyone knows why the phantom vision 2 remained just a few months and is discontinued by Nike? Weren't they good? Even the considered "innovative" technologies are not used in phantom GT, like quadfit, etc... I need to buy a new pair of boots and I'm thinking in this ones while they are still selling.
