Only the '96 Stealth had a smaller Z15A chassis since rear steer vs the larger Z16A in all 3000GT model years. '96 stealth only 57 units built last production year. All business. Great vid. Very fast. Fun cars. Yours much faster then mine! I was sad to see your mitsu engine gone bc its impressive to see any of them in action almost like we deserve an award or something for keeping them working. Lol. The mitsu engine had proprietary variable valve timing mixed with the small factory twin turbos and no electronic throttle made for near instant acceleration at low revs which is big for 90s turbo cars. Great cars when everything works or your worst nightmare if not bc hard to find the issue, parts, or qualified service especially if you never owned one before like me...and I bought 2 in one month a couple years ago!! What can I say..living childhood poster on wall dreams. What's sad is these cars would run great and last long time only if we could buy them new and access to all OEM parts. I own Stealth TT and VR4 GT both 2nd gen. Stealth my favorite. I'm seeing much interest in these cars now. Finally. Mainly because so rare. The forgotten JDM legend. Considering starting another channel soon with my cars just to help let folks know how great overall these cars were and still are. Congrats on your sweet ride!!

For the uninitiated, the reason why he says it's not a DSM is because it is.... Not a DSM. DSM refers to vehicles made in normal illinois during the time that particular factory was owned by both chrysler and mitsubishi as part of their joint venture. The 3000gt was built in japan and is as much of a DSM as the rivian vehicles made in the normal illinois plant today. That is to say they are not, at all.

Lucore Auto and LucoreRacing full interior, chassis is all stock, stock glass. Suspension points are the same. Same coilovers I had when 4Gswapped. @@4familyman thanks for the quick response! As someone who's owned and raced a 3/S car since 2001 I can certainly see the appeal of shedding the complicated expensive stock components! Lucore Auto and LucoreRacing yeah the engine bay is wide on the 3000’s so quite a bit of room that way. Not cluttered but I don’t have an intercooler at all. Just got pipe to TB. And I deleted AC. Put those in and it will be cluttered again.

@@nephron9924 Definitely a lot of work, but what I got was the 4th quickest 3000gt/stealth of all time, the only one with full interior, all stock glass, and the ONLY one that could complete Race Week while running the times it ran. I get it that the swap isn't for everyone, but I love the look of these cars (had my first one almost 20 years ago) and I could spend 10x the money on the stock engine/trans setup and not achieve what I have so far and with the reliability. Just didn't make sense for me and what I wanted to do. And yes, a camaro or foxbody would have been even cheaper and easier, but then i'd just have another camaro and not a 3000gt that I love.

DSM or Diamond Star Motors was a cooperation between Chrysler and Mitsubishi to co produce models to cut production costs. The Eclipse and 3000GT are both vehicles produced during this cooperation (see Eagle Talon/ Dodge Stealth/ Plymouth Laser ect.) This is a "DSM" car (minus of course the drivetrain swap)
@Kingsoupturbo5 жыл бұрын
@@ItsDrillz Except Talon\Eclipse were built in Illinois and the 3s cars were built in Japan. I guess it doesn't really matter at this point, it was a deal back 20 years ago when I had a Vr4, but these days, the difference doesn't matter much! hardly anyone has either car. Also that car is quite difficult to fix, so I get the v8\auto swap, but a 6g74 swap delicous too.

Josh Heldwein All 3000GT VR4’s were produced in Japan and imported into the states- DSM only refers to cars that were part of the Mitsubishi Chrysler join venture, something the vr4 was never a part of. Saying a vr4 is a dsm is like saying an evo is a dsm.
