Notaries Public vs Title Insurance Producers and Independent Contractors TIPIC…What's the difference

The purpose of the Town Hall meeting is to differentiate between the responsibilities of a Title Insurance Producers and Notaries Public. The Title Insurance Producer License is a separate and distinct license from that of a Notary Public Commission. Our partners from the Maryland Insurance Administration, the agency that licenses Title Insurance Producers, will present with us.

Regarding the person that was asking about, 'shadowing' was not asking the question in reference to being licensed or not. I think they were talking about 'shadowing' from a training / job - understanding perspective, until they got a firm understanding of how to do a title sigining? Am I right? I think they wanted to know IF it's OK to shadow until they learned how to perform such duties really well. Correct me if I am wrong.

How long is the TIP good for ? Ie 2 years, 4 years. I assume we need to take classes again and do test.
