I saw this episode when I was 10 years old. I was sick with a bad cold and was woozy myself from cough syrup (the kind that was banned for children 20 years later). So, I too was really living the episode vicariously with Joe and breathed a sigh of relief at the ending.

Never saw that episode of LHOTP. Seems kind of lame to just recycle a plot like that, especially considering how Michael Landon was a notorious perfectionist. But, then again, even Bonanza had a couple of duds under his leadership. I think two of the worst episodes were "Something Hurt, Something Wild" and "Stallion."

*SOUND PROBLEM REMEDY* I figured out a while ago that when they have no sound, very little sound or the sound is garbled that if you use headphones, a secondary speaker or bluetooth device that the sound works normally. I don't know how or why it is, but that's what I accidentally stumbled upon while watching in my car using bluetooth then getting out and trying to finish watching while walking back into work after lunch. Afterwards I tried separate speaker and headphones finding they work too.

Actually if you adjust your setting for the quality you'll realize it's just the setting. The auto setting almost always goes with the lowest pixel setting so the image is garbage.

What a shame that these stars had to grow a bit older during the Bonanza years,..particularly Little Joe. His features and his wavier hair now really has made him look older. Maybe if he'd been given a haircut to match his appearance on the weekly opening credits.

This was extremely intense, and for little Joe to go through all those adjustments, from the barn and correcting his leg, then to the house the liquor cleanse bandage, and his blood poisoning and his hallucination's fever, good he couldn't go through with his knifing.

This was initially Candy's last episode before departing due to salary issues (i believe - or at least contractual). He made a return in season 12's Kingdom of Fear, but that episode was originally shot in season 10, but postponed due to it's violent content (it's one of the best episodes of Bonanza). He then returned as a regular in the final season.
