I agree, Had mine since 2015... Best phone I've ever owned. It's done everything I've asked it to. My only cons would be low-light pics, clunky s-pen button, power & volume buttons are opposite sides so can be annoying to turn the device off when adjusting the volume.

Note 4 will always be one of the best phones Samsung's ever made. Hope I don't have to find a new model to replace it soon. I don't care about the premium glossy back and curved screen. I much prefer having a replaceable battery and a headphone jack.

Here is what you need to do: 1. Get rid of Flipboard, from the home screen settings. It slows the phone down, and I don't think anyone uses it. 2. Even though your phone is unable to root, you should be able to enable Developer Options, under About Phone. Click on the build number several times, and you'll be there. Then, go back and open the Developer options. Don't mess with too much, but I would enable UBS Debugging. Let's you connect to a computer easily. But more important, go to Window Animation Scale, Transition Animation Scale, and Animator Duration scale. Usually these are set default to 1X or 1.5 X. There's no reason for that. Set them to 0.5 X, and the phone will speed up. 3. Now and then, clear the cache of your most used apps, web browser, email, etc. Just go to Application Manager, click on the App, and click on storage, most will show a "Clear Cache" option. Clear that cache now and then. I wouldn't clear the data, which is another button, as that will delete all your settings. But clearing cache now and then is good for your phone. If you do all these, your Note 4 will outperform a lot of the new phones on the market today. You just have to take the effort. All the best.

I used mine from Jan 2015 to April 2018 it was a tank. But I'm glad I upgraded to the note 8 (boy is it night and day), I'd say the newer phones are vastly superior even if they are missing some features the note 4 has. You should definitely upgrade even if you keep your n4 around.

That's what I did. Had one Die (emmc read error) so waiting for a new Motherboard. In the meantime bought another one new. I seriously think this will be my last phone. Don't see anything else out there that tops the Note 4 all around. Definitely won't ever buy another new Samsung phone. (Have Note 2 that also died twice! , currently dead (SDS sudden death syndrome).

Added wireless charging to mine with a back cover with embedded wireless receiver, so I am not missing any new tech, while having fast charging, IR blaster, removable battery, and a gorgeous flat AMOLED screen, sadly not longer available on new Samsung flagships.

Mine survived a throw out a 2nd story window across the street and in a snowbank for almost 48 hrs until we could finally find it just by calling it. Mine has literally been to hell and back and just keeps going! Just wish there was less lag the older it gets. Only complaint about this phone!

Congratulations on your video. I had the Note 4 since it came out and and i love this phone. I don't want to let ut go. I am disappointed that the Note 8 does not have the IR blaster i use it all the time. The only problem that I've had with my phone for a long time now is the GPS getting lost all the time. It's always telling me searching for GPS. Have you heard this from other users before? if you could help me out with that I would appreciate it thank you.

Hi Angel, the GPS is one of the issue many people have mentioned regarding the Note 4. I also have issues with the GPS sometimes on the Note 4. I don't know that there is an actual fix or something that can help improve it .

Changing your animation scale in developer options will cause some apps not to scroll properly.. such as chat and messaging systems. As new messages come in, you'll have to manually scroll your page down.. It doesn't effect every app, however if you notice this problem you should definitely set them back as they were..

Hi great video just watched your Note 4 in 2018 too. I use an iPhone Plus for my day to day but they don’t offer much in VR and 360 video arena so I’ve been looking at the Note 4 and 5 (will probably get an old Gear VR or China knock off). I’ve pretty much decided to get a Note 4 now after watching your videos. Could you give me any extra advice re Note 4 or 5 when it comes to VR and 360 like is the Note 5 really any better when it comes to that? Hi Jay, I think the Note 5 will do better.. will have a faster processor and more RAM. Issue is that the Note 5 will not have removable battery and if you get it used, it probably wont have a good battery on it . For that, you will need to pay to have someone replace the battery to get the most out of it . Story: ( below is only my opinion) A VR messed up my first Note 4. I had the Note 4 for a year, I tried a VR headset for the first time ( for about 30 mins). the phone got very hot and it restarted. After that, the note 4 continued restarting on its own and one day it never came back on . This is a common issue with the Note 4's, seems some issue with the hardware. Based on experience, I feel that the VR headset pushed the phone to its limits causing the hardware to go bad.

there is not much you can do on space, best way is to back up all the videos and pictures on a computer , hard drive, or cloud. You can always add an external micro SD card, but I heard it tends to also slow down the phone.

Hello Thanks for sharing this information I reset my Note 4 to factory reset to sell and they sent it back stating the phone keeps overheating. I never had this problem. Could this have been caused by the reset?

Hi Cheryl, not at all.. Usually this is what you do to eliminate any software issue you may have on the phone. This phone is known to overheat if is pushed to the limits, also if there are apps running in the background may cause the phone to overheat when you are just watching a video. This phone is also known for having a hardware issue which cause the phone to restart and overheat. Does your phone restart on its own ?

Great tips on Note 4, thanks so much. My laptop has just been updated with latest Windows 10 October 2018 version. So it has new features like the 'Your Phone' App and to get it to work, Microsoft sends you a link to download 'Your Phone Companion' to your Android phone. Right, so I can't link the App on my Note 4 with the App on my Laptop because I get error msg saying that the Android version on my Note 4 is too old. I have Android version 6.0.1, and apparently I need Android 7 or higher. My ph tells me it is up to date. I have even tried to manually search for updates but nada. Any solutions?

Hi Rose, sadly version 6.0.1 is the latest version supported by Samsung for the Note 4. Some people are able to install custom ROMS to get some of the latest OS like the Android 7 , but that gets a little to complicated if you have never installed a CUSTOM ROM or root a device

Whatever the manager at Batteries Plus Bulbs put in there. Changing the battery annually? Now there's a thought... I had the phone two years before the first battery change. I'm about to re-up for another change. I want to hold out for the Note version that folds in half... Note X or Note 10, perhaps??? I won't even consider another phone without a stylus.

Ah nice! The last one I got was from Anker. I also ordered a battery charger for the battery which helps charge the spare batteries while I am using the phone. Hi Astro, I have not come across any information that would suggest it will damage it . This is all done through software. By turning off the scale animation, you are making your CPU work less as it will process less instructions. But you make a great point, if you start messing on OTHER setting under the dev options, you could damage the hardware.

This helped my phone - thanks! What also helps is to restrict the background data of unessential apps, which is most of them except for your antivirus etc. I'm now getting 11 hours battery life up from 5 hours before and less heat. Do this: settings > application manager > select each app > data usage > restrict background data

what's is there to know about the Pen? I've try this once, I click the pen while the carma app was open take picture the screen went blank for long time. the only to come back live is to charge it. it didn't need it but it work.

that is strange , I had a similar issue before when trying to take a pic.. It ended up been a faulty battery . When I snapped a pic ( mainly if it had the flash on ) the phone would just turn off.

I'm sorry but at what distance minimum I focus with the note 4 at least 10 cm if not, if I get closer to focus you can see that the image that is calibrating comes to a point that is perfect but I block it out of focus then in the camera menu there is a video mode icon but there is no way how I can set a slow motion video

I would say about 6 inches to get the camera to focus on an item . For slow motion using marshmallow, once I open the camera , I click on Mode, I see the option for slow motion there.. I select Slow motion, which it brings me back to the main record mode. After clicking record, it will start recording in slow motion for me .

Yes, you have to make sure to save all your media files, ensure you log your user is, pass, emails.. phone will be back to the original state when it was taken out of the box..

I think this is common with the Note 4, if you push it to the limit it will get hot . I always experienced that .. As far as your phone reaching 2.25 Gb, I covered that on the video on what I did to speed up mine. Did you have a question in particular after watching the video??

But I beg you pleaseeee to do a video about this Note 4 issue; On 2017 some if not must of the Galaxy Note 4 started to freeze and reboot it self out of nowhere, I searched everywhere till I finally found a video on KZbin with people with the same issue and they were all sugesting to download the app WakeLock I think it basically sets your CPU On at all time. Without this my phone starts acting up again but with it it makes it ridiculously slow. Do you by any chance know of a more permanent solution? Hola JiniusBeauty, The issue you described is well known with the Note 4s. It is very strange because not every one is reporting that issue. I have owned three Note 4s and one of them had that issue. I did alot of research and tried every possible solution in the book but was not able to get it resolved. That seems to be a hardware issue, which causes the phone to restart. I also read about WakeLock and seems to be just a temp solution. My note 4 kept getting worst as time progressed, until one time it just never came back on . As far as getting the latest update, if you are not able to get it from Samsung itself or the carrier itself I don't have an answer. Before finding out I could get it from the Samsung Experience Shop, I tried to install it manually by downloading different version online, but was not able to install it successfully.

had 2 note 4`s with the same issue, gave them away for freesome suggest that it might have been the bad batteries, have you tried a new battery? it might be true cose of the low voltage/amperage of the bad one and the CPU cant get enough power to work

Jin, I had the same issue with my note 4, when the battery reached 40-30 percent it would turn off by itself and tried to reboot a few times by itself, I replaced the battery, now it works flawlessly.

Nice to see so many people are still using Note 4 but I thought there is a common problem with this phone nowadays and it's weird there are no comments about it. For me it started 2 years ago that my phone didn't want to turn on and even if it did an android logo appeared with some information (also that it's downloading something and dont turn it off - I left it like that for 2 days still showed me the same thing). In some occasion it turned on properly but at low battery (around 10-15) it turned off itself. So I had to remove the battery and put it back so many times to turn it on in those 2 years. It was really a patient game. In the last 2 months it turned off again and I can't turn it on. 2 days ago it showed me the android logo with dowloading stuff, left it for couple days - nothing happened. I don't really want to lose this phone because I love it but I can't turn it on. Any suggestion? Also I'm afraid to buy a new one because I don't know if it's gonna have the same issue one day...

I have made diff videos on the N4 these past two years and got alot of feedback from many users around the world. Sounds like your hardware is bad, very common issue with the N4. That actually happened to my first N4. It kept restarting and one day it just never came back on . Many people have suggested leaving it in the freezer for about 15-30 mins and trying to turn it on again .. That is just a temp solution , once it comes on .. install an app called wakelock that will keep the phone from restarting . if you need a phone for the daily basis I would suggest you don't get another N4 as it seems there are alot of the out there with this issue and you may be stuck with another defective unit .

Hey MayitoTek, I have another question. I recently had a problem with my messaging feature, talk to text. It would not work, and I use this a lot as i am a slow typer. I couldn't figure out what settings to change to solve this issue, so I re-activated the S-voice. It is working now, so just curious if they're related.

I just tried it on mine, I have S voice disable and I am still able to use the voice to text feature from the keyboard. Not sure if your keyboard is configured in any way that is impacted by the S-voice command.. When you click on the "microphone" in the keyboard , you get a pop-up that says "Tap to Speak" .. in the bottom you get another large button with with microphone and under it says "google"?

I heard something about the galaxy 9, and possibly all samsung sending photos from gallery to random contacts without permission and without you being able to know it's been done. Probably crazy talk, but he said the company addressed the issue.

Seems that was stopped right away after it was discovered.. that is what happens when companies don't do enough proper testing before they send the software updates out to the consumers. 😂

hard to tell unless I am using it daily, but I would try to narrow down if there is some app running in the background when the phone overheats and starts slowing down . Usually when a phone overheats is because the processor is overworked and it can be because of some app(s) running in the background . The fact that you cant detect fast charging , I would look into the battery. A bad battery sometimes can cause a phone to overheat ,

thak you very much mate for your help. I had been using the note 4 for past 2 years now. The RAM management has become a big issue, where the phone shows in RED every few minutes and gets very HOT. I have ro manually keep closing all the unwanted app atleast 50 times a day and its very frustrating. Any information on how to increase the RAM management will be appreciated...thanks

Hi ! the best way is to uninstall and disable all the apps you don't use. Closing them means, they will open and run in the background eventually

my advice is to get a refurbished one, and see if you can get some kind of warranty on it .. Buying a used phone that is this old online can be sketchy.. I know in amazon some of the post offer a 90 day warranty..

I would need to have a phone which is not working, some people have mentioned they were able to fix some glitches by resetting the phone after downloading a new OS update.. that would be one of the things I would do. If I find out anything, will let you know

if you have the extra cash go for it , you will not regret it . I got it about a month ago for $750 and works like a charm. So far no issues, still have lots of love for that Note 4 that's why I am still keeping it . Note 9 is around the corner, so that means you could go for the Note 9 of get the Note 8 for a lower price.

I still have my Note 4. I swear by it. Its a rock solid phone, fast as heck, the camera is great, and it looks nice in my opinion. I use a custom launcher that allows me to mess with the look and feel of the UI. It feels like a new phone still.

On average I am getting about 5 hours of screen on time, depends on how new is the battery and what you are doing with the phone. Many people still use the Note 4 and still recommend it , it just depend on how much you paid for it. Here in the US I value it between $150 - $190.

Hi Pjei, unless you have a bad battery.. seems like you have the known issue with the motherboard. This is very common , I personally had this issue with my first note 4 and tried everything.. once you get a hardware issue you have to replace it .

I've read about a lot of slowdowns with Lollipop and issues upgrading from Lollipop to Marshmallow, I don't have any Samsung stores near me and I'm not sure if I want to risk the Lollipop update... Hi KG, I didn't notice the phone slowing down after on the upgrade to marshmallow disabling all the bloatware apps that came with the install/phone. I am not sure if this will solve the issue, but try to update the software update to manual. I always do this on all phone to make sure Samsung doesn't force any updates on my phone. Since you are getting notifications, I am not sure if it already installed some file which is triggering the pop up messages.... Check out the forum below, see if it works.. Definitely worth the upgrade. If for no other reason you'll gain screen write, which is extremely useful for quick notes by simply removing the S-Pen. No slow down issues like there were on Lollipop.

KG V do not upgrade bro. Marshmallow has a serious battery drain issue. It does not matter what brand note people have, it's on all of them. Some people will lie but trust me, don't upgrade. The updates also cause the phone to heat up a lot. Uses more ram than previous versions as well. These tricks never needed to be done on kitkat. Don't do it, trust me. There is a apk that you can side load to get screen off memo. Keep kitkat
