I bought it a few weeks back, and have used it for 2 weeks full time as a student for notes and textbook readings, and Im only at 45% on my second charge. The battery life is absolutely killer on this device.

Kitt: This is the one you should buy. Me: Dude, this is the one I did buy. In Australia, it's $200 cheaper than the C. I'm not sold on Kaleido screens, with the faded looking colours and dimmer contrast. I don't mind the lack of BSR, and prefer the more reflective whites. I use it for a couple of hours each day over the last month and have only charged it once, and it still has 65% battery. Good device :)

@@elliotreeves7579 In good light, it's fine. Perhaps ever so slightly duller than an actual piece of printed paper (miniscule difference, if any). Only time it can be a little difficult is if the environment is backlit (ie window in front of you). But I'll either shift around so the light lands on the screen, turn on a light inside or activate the front light and it's fine.

Ordered the B/W; battery life, a screen contrast/look closer to paper, and the new writing feel sold me. Maybe in a couple years there will be a compromise-free device, but for now I’m really excited to receive this one.

Think I'll do the same. These aren't cheap, but should be amazing for taking notes and reading. It's also Android, which for me beats the Remarkable as that is very closed, and now they have some monthly subscription for connectivity. Time to get me a monochrome tablet!

After watching all your videos I pulled the trigger on the 3C but the next they day they rolled out the 3 so I cancelled the order and went Black and White. I love it for Kindle, newspaper, one note and notes.

If I already had an ultra book or iPad I would have purchased the b&w version, but the 3C is my note device by day and my web scroller by night, so the color and super refresh is huge to me. I'm crossing my fingers that boox adds a super refresh off switch for massive battery savings on the 3C.

Returned my Remarkable 2 couple months ago for a lot of reasons I posted in another video of yours. This device is the one I really really want….but I think I’ll wait for the carta 1300 screens to come out soon. I know I know, there is always something better down the road. But what I’ve seen of those new screens it’ll be a game changer e ink.

Interesting to see people taking sides in this NA3 v NA3C debate. Having a NA2 and NA3C I have a vested interest in joining the NA3C side of course! Clearly, the NA3C is much more innovative than the NA3 is. Not much point in upgrading to a 3 from a 2 whereas there could be a reason for switching to colour and BSR in the NA3C from the NA2. If you have no interest in the attractions of colour or don’t want to charge a regularly used NA3C as much as you do your phone or iPad then don’t bother of course with the NA3C. Then perhaps more subtle considerations - if you want the same best screen sharpness of the 300 ppi Kindles then don’t bother with the NA3. If you want a brighter but unlit eye-friendly screen you must go for the NA3 over the “dull” NA3C. But if battery life and frequent charging isn’t an issue for you, fixing screen brightness on the NA3C is available to something like you get on the NA3/2, whereas for some (but not all) not being able to “fix” the old tech 227 ppi to 300 ppi may be an issue. And if speed and screen refresh is particularly important, go for the NA3C. Ultimately, if you’ve no need and zero interest in colour, probably go for a NA3 (or Kindle Scribe), unless you already have a NA2/+. In all other case, however, I think the NA3C still has a lot going for it, imperfect though it is.

I always really appreciate your excellent reviews!!! I am announcing that I will NOT buy a Boox until they put in the replaceable batteries, so it appears I will be first considering the Supernote A4X2 and likely will eventually get a Boox device, but only when they wake up and recognize what the market wants and then people would not be concerned with battery life being used up, as they could get a new battery. So then people would be able to choose even a colour model with the BSR and not be concerned.

I have the Tab Ultra Pro and the battery was for one word lacking. But I have used it for writing for a couple hours a day maybe 2-4 hours and I have not charged it yet. It is down to 30 percent. I am running it with the front light off but the most impact I’ve seen is by having WiFi off. That single thing has massively improved the battery life. Again I have been only using the Neo reader to annotate on my pdf planner. But will be doing more test

After having tried a color device for about a year I realized it doesn't do much for me. I'd rather have a b/w device with longer battery runtime. Unfortunately I seem to have missed my window of opportunity, since Boox doesn't have a b/w 7" note-taking device currently.

the main reason for me to go for one of these over a laptop/tablet is battery life. I think the color epaper are just a nerfed tablet in that regard. It's nice to have color for the product designer, powerpoint editing or meeting/scheduling calendar. I've looked at this one seriously and think I'll have to ship the kindle scribe back to get it. The scribe's software is just too handicapped.

Correct opinions. Definitely a better device than the scribe, but the price difference makes the scribe attractive if that software dies all you need. 🙂

Yeah, good question. I'll be switching to the black and white soon, after completing another review, and then I'll make a direct comparison and discuss that. However at this time, I'd just say choose your priority, colour or battery life!

So it seems like that for my sysadmin job, where I mainly need to read books (including PDFs with color) and draw to-do lists and diagrams using the stylus, but I also want to have some work-related chat apps on it and to sometimes use the device with a keyboard and a power bank to log into servers using SSH with text-based UI and do some light work there, the color version offers a better overall compromise. A tablet may be a better choice for some, but my eyes get very tired very easily when using traditional displays and a backlit e-paper screen is much easier on the eyes.

Hi, Im studying engineering and i NEED to be able to copy single exercises from a pdf to a note, so that i can solve it in an individual page. Does anyone know if the Boox can do that? Also, how does it feel to write on it? I hate the glass feel samsung/apple tablets have for notetaking, so I was looking for something like the remarkable, but I believe the remarkable is a bit to restricted. Moreover, how is the latency? In videos RM2 looks almost instant, but the Boox has some delay, is it noticeable?

No the newest Boox devices have less latency than remarkable. And, yeah you'll be fine to write on your pdfs. You can either add a page directly after the one you are reading for your working out, or otherwise, you might like the "book notebook" linked notepad which opens in split view with a pdf. Amazon has an exclusivity deal that will run out somewhere this year. IMO it would have made more sense for Boox to wait for that deal to run out and launch the air3 with a 300 ppi screen.

Why should they? Really: I was worried because it does not have 300 dpi, but once I tried it, I was convinced. It's awesome. I wanted it for handwriting and text, but even most images look good. The 227 dpi are fully useable, no color layer on top that blurs them. 300 dpi would be 75% more pixels = it would take longer to refresh things, scroll etc.

Colour. The battery life is a nuisance but it's as good as a normal tablet, and colour eink is A+.

Personally, I'd get the BW version even if it was more expensive. Wait for his comparison of the two screens: the color screen has an ugly kind of “mesh pattern” from the 150 dpi color layer above the BW layer, so BW is MUCH sharper on the BW device. I returned the color version because I couldn't stand it. The BW is crisp and clear, it's a day and night difference (not just the backlight, it's how crisp + sharp the text is, and the background is also a "clearer/cleaner" white). Some people don't see this, but others - me included - do. Also, the super refresh refreshes more often, so it feels slower and laggy to me. I do not use a keyboard, just reading and handwriting.
