DPS (Dynamic Power Steering) provides a computer controlled, vari-able power assist, achieved by an electric motor to optimize the amount of steering effort required by the rider.The steering assist level is dependent of the handlebar effort, the steering angle and the vehicle speed. When vehicle is in the reverse gear, power steering assist will decrease as vehicle speed increases.

When you guys were reversing the Can-Am, thats a perfect moment to use the “Over Ride” switch, Can Am s are limited to 10% power in reverse, when you press and hold the switch up, it will “Over Ride” that and will give you full engine power when going in reverse, just a little tip if you get a similar recovery next, as well as all Maverick X3 models have a always locked rear dif, and some have either an open front diff, and some will have an option to lock the font diff if the switch says so in the center. And the DPS is Dynamic Power Steering, it gives you a different levels of power steering per level, Min is a stiffer wheel, Med is a medium amount, and Max is all the power steering it offers, the newer the model the more powerful power steering you will have available.

It’s actually amazing how Matt just recently started using a winch. When I first started watching him he never used a winch.

I don't remember any of those trails until Duck Creek really expanded, with all the ATV traffic. I left that part of the country around 1989. I could be wrong, because I never went due north straight out of Duck Creek Village on the two tracks. I was on a lot of two tracks directly above Navajo Lake and going towards Cedar Breaks, plus way out the back end (west) of Navajo Lake on two tracks that took you back up to the blacktop going back down to Cedar City. Loved the area with all the lava fields and pine forests. Too bad the Bark beetle did so much damage. I could see the scars on the map from dead tree recovery above Navaho Lake. Take care.

I was up there this past weekend. Someone has piled branches and sticks in the hole, and filled it with dirt enough to be safe to drive past it. Love the view from up there.

That look Lizzy gives as Matt says "unless that tree breaks..." lol True pros at this job. I can see Matt analyzing things in his head as he decides what and how to do it. I'd be scared to death just riding along on some of the trails you all pull people out of.

Ahh, the locking front diff option would have been nice-ish.
@gregparrott3 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately, prior to 2021, none of the Can Am ATVs and UTVs ever offered a locking differential. They all used 'Visco-Lock', which is a funky limited slip differential. For 2021, the Can Am Outlander ATV now has a locking front diff. However, I do not know if Can Am finally transitioned to lockers for their UTVs. I own ATVs from 3 manufacturers, including Can Am. While the other two have locking front diffs., Can Am's Visco-Lock kinda' works most of the time. But it requires a fairly fast spin of the airborne tire before the viscous system begins to lock up. It's no match for a locker. Can Am's customers may have driven that point home.
@KarlEller3 жыл бұрын
@@gregparrott How strong are the CVs on these? They look like they have a pretty serious angle on the CV joints, and I imagine a proper locking front diff would make it pretty easy to snap one when lifting a wheel. At least an LSD can take some of the shock load out of it.
@hunter198719563 жыл бұрын
@@gregparrott Actually, Can Am offered their Smart Lok in 2018 I believe. It was in the sport UTVs and is a locking diff.
@gregparrott3 жыл бұрын
@@KarlEller Good question. I don't have any metrics for their strength. But I've been riding 20+ years, with LOTS of other ATVs and UTVs and observationally, even on the UTVs and ATVs with lockers, the CV joints rarely break due to applied torque (as opposed to hitting a boulder, improper maintenance, etc.) I have only seen one break in any group I've been with in over 40k miles of riding. And, that CV joint was MINE. I rode a new Polaris that had not been properly assembled, at about 60 miles riding at modest speed, the right front brake caliper FELL OFF, lodged between the wheel and suspension, almost threw me over the handle bars, but promptly snapped the CV joint. That shock loading was MAJOR ABUSE.Granted, a sharp steering angle exacerbates the stress - when I mount snow tracks, the mounting brackets limit the steering angle for that reason. At any rate, for some conditions, lockers are required. Can Am is one of very few not to have offered it, but appear to be changing. They can judge whether they need to strengthen their halfshaft and/or CV joints
@gregparrott3 жыл бұрын
@@hunter19871956 That does not sound right, as I have a friend who owns two 1000CC Can Am Oulanders (2018, 2019) and he laments that NEITHER has a locker

Banana turned into Morvair, the tree turned into a stump and no man had the courage to be in the buggy in case it rolled, it was a job for a woman, smaller and lighter. Who would expect these vehicles cant drive two front wheels at the same time, no diffs, no diff locks? I was on the edge of my seat like most of your recoveries, slick editing and great continuity turning hours into minutes, making a fantastic video. In the blink of an eye, the banana became Morvair, same paint made an illusion
