Thanks, good video. One point though. You say at around 21:26 the podcasters tend to be excited and positive about everything. Let me tell you, if you upload crappy or questionable info, the podcasters will rip into it and be highly critical! That's good that your writing and influences are being seen in a good light. See it as a compliment! I have entered content and the podcasters at times were scathing! I have found it particularly valuable in analyzing web pages, such as sales pages. It was highly critical of countdown timers, false scarcity, questionable testimonials, questionable science etc. Since Google is the main search engine, and incorporates ai into its search algorithm, it gives you a valuable insight into what Google thinks of a webpage. And if its ai thinks the content is bad, that will obviously get reflected in lower search rankings of the page.

One thing you could do is upload the manuscript or to something like Claude and ask it to write an article that is more critical, more analytical, or whatever you're looking for. Next, upload that article to Notebook and generate a podcast. Then run the audio through Audacity and change the frequency of the podcasters' voices to make them sound different. THEN upload it as a podcast. Of course, that doesn't get around the fact that it will sometimes hallucinate or get too excited about the wrong stuff, coming across as decidedly Not Human. I've thought about using the podcast feature, then choosing the best parts to use as voiceover for short videos. That way, you can cut out the weird bits.

I did this yesterday with my story. Listening to the "podcast" about your story can really give you some ideas on where to take things and shows you questions and holes in your plot and story that you might not realize on your own just reading through it. Really fun tool to have!

There is already a new update. Now you can give instructions to the hosts and also have them focus on specific sources.
@emanuelec27042 ай бұрын
Here's an example prompt you can now use: "You are the hosts of a podcast teaching writers how they can improve. Critique the short story sent by a listener, by giving advice on what can be improved. Also make sure to point out what's good about the short story. Finally, also brainstorm together some possible ways this short story can turn into a novel."

You can use Google tabs in docs to write your draft manuscript up to 50k words and can use NotebookLM to discuss your manuscript as 1 - 3 sources depending on the length of your work. Could also pair with writing advice sources to help with developmental edits.
@victoriadedicova2 ай бұрын
20:20 you can give it prompts to sound differently. Where you have to custom prompt window, you can give it custom instructions. I use it to have a single person talk, to do video voicing for me and just change the voice in Capcut.(Like a cover, you can revoice it with other things too like voice ai. Can change gender and tone, but the inflections will stay the same) You can also set long custom instructions inside a document and you tell it to use that document for brand voice. Just so you know. You can also pull the transcript and do a new voice in ai or something.

Thank you for sharing this! I use this for a guide on NovelAi. There isn't a lot of info or tutorials on it out there, and I am afraid to ask questions on their discord. I added the guide and info I got from the Discord, and I can now ask it all my technical questions about how to prompt the AI in NovelAI correctly. It's so useful!

notebookLM to create podcasts.. i've created a small python to separate the voices (it creates 2 files, male.mp3, female.mp3) that you can use to feed into the various "hedra" or other saas to create talking avatars. No more struggles to manually separate the voices! (of course the audio files contain the "silences" when the other character is not speaking, so they perfectly match).

I am hopeful I can try this soon! EDIT: PROBLEM SOLVED. I have two gmail accounts; I did realize taht I was accessing KZbin from one and uploading to the other. It was pulling up my source file but not giving me the guide. It wasn't counting it as a source either so I was puzzled. Does it lose detail if there's too much material? Or if the material is too diverse? For example, you stopped at two videos and they were both on Plot. Was the reason for stopping there due to the other videos being on other topics or just sheer volume of information that NotebookLM would struggle with? And on that note, what's the point of the 50 document capacity if it loses too much detail after just a few?
@matt_v23052 ай бұрын
Hi Jason. How can you be sure that once you've put your own docs into the AI, that they don't now become a resource for that AI? Essentially increasing the chance that your ideas, or a form of, can be given to other users. Would be keen to hear your thoughts on this.
@jessicacopeland90662 ай бұрын
I was worried about that too.
@marianacarina25802 ай бұрын
It said when I opened it that they don't use the user's information, but honestly that's a load of bs coming from Google. They track everything. I'd stick with the idea that "ideas are cheap and the execution is what matters" and not paste the whole docs in that place, or just use it to study other's people's works/videos.
@MagnusItland2 ай бұрын
They're stating right there at the start page that they don't do that. However, there is a risk that human reviewers (i.e. Google employees) may see your interactions with the program, so please do not upload sensitive information. And this program is available in Europe, so they won't get away with blatantly false advertising. I kind of wish they would steal my ideas, honestly, because life is far too short to use them all myself. But they don't.
@TheNerdyNovelist2 ай бұрын
Even if that happens you don’t have to worry about it. It’s difficult to 100% plagerize anything with Ai. And ideas are cheap. The idea never matters as much as the execution. And even if two authors had the same idea at the same time (which does happen) they would be two VERY different books. Just from personal style alone.

Cool video! One question. Are you worried about uploading your works in progress and unpublished novels to Google? I know they say they won't be using the data to train their models but what is your view on it? Corporations are not usually that trustworthy when it comes to privacy and security issues.

Uh....hate to tell you this...but this is not "NEW UPDATES"....nothing you seem to have just discovered are NEW - you're late to the table. The podcast feature/audio overview, youtube source link, etc are already...past the curve. And for the record - not all links are functional as many media sites have restrictions on use. Now - for those who clicked thinking they were gonna find REAL UPDATE INFO for NotebookLM - here you go: There is an update to the audio overview feature. This new update simply allows you to prompt the audio to focus more on certain topics in your sources or change how it presents its information such as speaking to an expert crowd or general audience. have a nice day, y'all!
