My wonderful Dad was a D- Day Doger he was in the 2nd Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire regiment and was of Italian parentage. My Dad's war campaign started in North Africa, Salerno Italy and finished in Greece. Their war started long before D-Day. Italy was no easy campaign go to Monte Cassino and see the war graves there and the total destruction of that city. They were all brave soldiers on both sides. So sad to see so many young lives lost in that battle. R.I.P to them all! ❤❤

Fun fact: This song is not a mockery of the US and British commonwealth, but a mockery of Lady Astor who is mentioned in the video. Astor said the fighting was easy, while the fighting was the complete opposite.

If you are not there doing the fighting, of course it is easy.

I was vibing so joyfully to this song until it hit the last part, It made me shed a tear.
If I was any more stupid, I’d think they actually sat on their ass the entire campaign

Aster said she did not call the men D Day dodgers but she had some strange views just google her to find out, the war in Italy for all caught up in it was as hard as any including the Soviet Union.

"Anzio and sangrio were just names, we only went to f#ck the dames" Is also an alternative version. Out of the mouth of a real D-DAY DODGER. I used to take my Grandad back to Italy 2 or 3 times a year. The first time I heard this song was him singing it when we arrived at an army barracks he was stationed at. I asked him what song it was to which he replied just an old song we used to sing you will never be able to find a record of it .I will never forget his face when we got back to our accommodation and I went on KZbin cast it to the TV and played it loud. It was like this 90 year old man was 20 again.
