But these are probably the best - but I would suggest Amy Hawk's book as an excellent introduction to the current mess. DK AMY HAWK. A church in town is building a bigger church and their last church building was a bankruptcy as one man was I so control of it. 30 years ago. Now they are building again. Waste of money .

Acts 19:20-41. If this is the same Alexander that Paul is speaking of, Alexander was a Jewish coppersmith that worked in the shrine/idol industry of Ephesus. It appears, Alexander downplays the Way of Jesus to appease the economic concerns of Demetrius and the silversmiths who profited from idol worship in Ephesus.

Ray: I appreciate the correction, but the passage lin Acts 19 doesn't tell me much about Alexander but a good deal about Demetrius and his cohorts. If this is the same Alexander he was a reluctant spokesman for those making metal work idols. This is in some contravention of the passages in 1 Timothy 1 and 2 Timothy 4 that tell us much more about this individual and constituted the main stay of my analysis. Those passages clearly call him a believer whether a Jew or a Gentile and that he was blaspheming and consequently was turned over to Satan as a believer who had fallen away. That's my understanding and I'm sticking with it. Thanks for the comment. Dr. K
