Out Of Season is also a lovely album. Gibbons' collaborator, Rustin Man (Paul Webb) is a former member of Talk Talk, whose sparse yet intricate, atmospheric and sometimes discordant approach certainly influenced Portishead.

Big fan of this album, I do think it will be in my top albums of the year. While I'm surprised you've not heard Portishead, I think that might give you a new band to dive into this if you like Gibbons vocals and lyrics. While not the same style, it has it's similarities.

Agreed, sadly I'm old enough to have bought it when it was released, my wife always hated it, like My Life in the Bush of Ghosts 🙄
