Love to hear you interview Davey Vain. He really is interesting to hear from and has deep roots. Vain - No Respect is an incredible album that still sounds fresh and he has a new record called Disintegrate Together out.

Yes, and Davy produced the first two Death Angel albums, and he sang with Steven Adler's Road Crew in the early 90's (as we can see on this video : kzbin.info/www/bejne/qZqVXqSBpad9qJI).

A pleasure to listen to you, guys, very entertaining, interesting, funny, even moving (I was touched by a teary-eyes Stevie talking about the "fallen heroes" of the era, Robbin Crosby, Jani Lane, etc). You guys are REAL, and that's way cool (as Stephen would say). And I agree with you on most the things you said about the documentary. I just wish that they talked a bit more about the PMRC crusade in the mid-eighties.

I hope the the Nothing But a Good Time documentary does not look at the 1980’s metal music through rose coloured glasses as being all fun for bands and fans. Robbin Crosby of Ratt was not only a very much loved rock star but he was also a heroin addict and no one ever asks a heroin addict can I have your autograph.

Kelv wrote for Metal Forces... he would definitely have featured Tuff in that title early on (as he did for many unsigned Sunset Strip bands also). RIP Kelv. PS: Shades was a tiny basement store (but a brilliant rock/metal record store) in St. Annes Court, off Wardour Street in Central London. There was a Tower Records (a huge store) at Piccadilly Circus. Just for clarity.

Great gathering for a show! I've always said there are two guys who have great stories of the Sunset Strip and the business, that's Don Dokken and Stevie. I feel Tuff was the closing band of that era and scene.

Just like Wednesday 13, I also have the full size TUFF poster‼️ Stevie Rachelle gave it to me after TUFF played a kick ass club show at Louie's Zoo in Fresno California. I wish I could remember the date. It might have even been before they had a record deal. Maybe Stevie has records that could pinpoint what date it was. I do remember that Michael Lean played a spectacular looking purple drumset with all black hardware, that night. 🥁

@@newavatar2947 Yeah, I was at that GN'R show. I think it was 3 months before they got famous. It was amazing! I got Slash's autograph. If only I had a camera that night.

The book did cover most of the bands not mentioned in the documentary. Like with any film, you have to compress days and 100's of hours of footage and information into 2-3 hours. I highly recommend the book though, its not a typical format, it is mostly quotes throughout each chapter. Its actually hard to put it down once you start it.

Some other bands part of that first wave: Black n Blue, Rough Cutt, Armored Saint and Candy. Agree?
@mikeb.7183
@mikeb.7183 8 күн бұрын
Rough Cutt was around but didn't make their debut LP until Dio released Sacred Heart and that was late 85. Armored Saint was more of a Thrash leaning band. Black n Blue though they were great.

Well as far as Nuno discussing working at BK Im sure many many of those guys from that era would have been better off financially by working 40 hours a week flipping burgers after 40 years than hanging on to a minor hit or two and trying to hang on touring sporadically for 40 years. Health insurance and retirement too

No no, Tuff was on Dial MTV at the peak of "hair metal" 1991. Tuff wasn't 3rd tier, not overkill. It was exactly the DEMAND at the time.

With all do respect if you marry a rockstar you have to understand the lifestyle. I mean do not act shocked. If you want a regular relationship go marry a sanitation worker.
