How do residents of that age recover from scratch? How long can they wait around for their home to be rebuilt. At that age their lives had a certain routine and now everything has changed. It will be very difficult for them to adjust to a homeless life unless their children give them plenty of help. What a tragedy that will be repeated many times over for displaced families.

Rich people in Palisades have insurance. They opted for higher premiums from the companies that stayed. It's the old folks like this that pretty much could only afford the yearly property tax is who we should feel bad for.

@@malovina I said "rich people in Palisades" not all people in Palisades. Also, if they could barely afford to buy a house there, then why buy it at all? That's the problem, people thinking they're about that Palisades life when they clearly weren't. And for folks that inherited property there I'm playing the world's smallest violin for them👌 They owned some of the most valuable land in CA (and the country for that matter) all because their parents or grandparents bought it years ago. Should've sold and cashed out, then moved to somewhere like Lakewood instead of thinking the beachfront life in a very high risk area is all that exists. If they couldn't afford to keep up with the expenses and risks of living there they should've sold or moved somewhere else.
