Wowzers. This was Fantastic. Love the First Electric Boat, then that last Widebeam...💖💖💖😍. We are at the stage in our lives when we have Big decisions to make. Our dream years ago was to sell up and move onto Canal life. My limited mobility has wobbled our dreams, a little. Seeing all these beautiful choices has more than reignited my dreams. But it's a difficult choice to make, now we are in the position to do so. Thank you guy's for this beautiful look into all the different styles out there. 😊👍🏼🤗🐶🐾

Glad you enjoyed the look around the boats Julie. There were some beauties weren’t there! We have seen some boats that have been adapted for those with limited mobility so there are builders out there that work with customers to make those necessary changes. We have said we will try to keep doing this as long as we enjoy it or our health doesn’t permit us to do so. You just never know what the future holds do you 😊❤️

Can’t get my head round the preference for having the room with the best views ie the front cabin taken up with the room you go to sleep in! I love sitting in my saloon with the bow doors open to my lovely conservatory- the well deck. The Oakums boat is lovely but for me the space taken up with the boot room would be better used in the galley, where I feel it’s a little cramped.
@JulieandMartinonRIB Жыл бұрын
@@gillgregory6327 Yes, that’s exactly how we feel Gill, we love sitting in the lounge with our bow doors open, especially in summertime, like you say, it’s like having a conservatory. And in the winter months, the well deck becomes a boot room of sorts, as we use the bow as our entrance mostly, so can leave muddy boots and hanging coats there to dry. We are outnumbered though lol, as the most preferred layout is, by far, the reverse layout, nice to be different eh! 😊

It was wonderful to see and tour the inside the narrow boats and take a closer look at the layouts and design! But just a side note - we don't really need to see inside all of the cupboards and drawers. Unless they contain the electrical system or the washer/dryer, the views of opening and closing the storage really isn't why we are tuning in to see. Hope that is ok to suggest.
@onedaymoreaboard10 ай бұрын
Thanks for watching! It really depends on the viewer as to what they need to see, and I filmed these tours from the point of view that we had when we were searching for a boat, and then designing ours when made the decision to buy new. We wanted to see all of the available storage and different options, which is why these tours went into so much detail opening all of the cupboards and drawers. We appreciate that some people will not want as much detail but I hope you understand our reasoning. 😊

That Eurocruiser widebeam interior looks fantastic but a boat of that size must be very impractical on the narrow canals and locks. It's better suited for the wide rivers like the Thames etc.

Love the Oakums Narrowboat. Have seen it in a couple other Vlogs. The one thing that keeps catching my eyes is the couch when you pull it out. Does the gap at the foot stay there? That looks like a potential hazard. Love the boot room and then sliding door between that and the galley. Must help with drafts. Caroline and Pete, you did an excellent job of showcasing these boats. Can dream about living on the Widebeams….especially the Eurocruiser….but not cruising with them 😳. Thanks for doing this, great job. 🙏🤗❤️🐾❤️ Kathy

We loved the Eurocrusier too Kathy but can’t imagine moving it! It seemed huge compared to our narrowboat! The Oakums sofa doesn’t have the gap when pushed together properly. It was just demonstrated quickly for the video. You’re right that the door from the boot room to the galley will definitely help with draughts. Glad you enjoyed it 😊

Apart from the Electric Boats, where is the Engine? is it under the cockpit floor? Is there a separate engine room in the middle of the accommodation?
@onedaymoreaboard4 ай бұрын
The engine is typically under the engine board on the stern deck on modern boats. The old traditional boats have the engine just after the boatman's cabin, more towards the middle, but there are not that many built in that style any more. If you take a look at the Crock Boat Show video that I filmed last year you will see a walk through of a newer boat built in the traditional style with this layout, fast forward to the 15:55 mark kzbin.info/www/bejne/bWmrZYSmg86Cn5Y. How do the wider boats go through the canals… I see your guys boat and it barely fits in some locks. Is there restrictions on where the wider boats can go and can’t go?
@onedaymoreaboard2 ай бұрын
There are quite a few narrow canals on the network that widebeam boats cannot fit on, so your increase in living space compromises your ability to explore the whole network, but lots of boaters are happy with that. Here’s a good summary of the differences between narrowboats and widebeams and a map of the areas accessible www.lakelandleisureboatsales.co.uk/blog/widebeam-vs-narrowboat-a-summary. @onedaymoreaboard Жыл бұрын
Which boat are you referring to? The widebeam? Most boats we have seen just have an under counter sized fridge. Ours on our narrowboat is even smaller than that actually! I think people live a more minimalist lifestyle on a boat, and make do with everything being smaller (I know we do), even the fridge, shopping more often to top up supplies. Thanks for watching 😊

Unfortunately most of the boat builders do not show their engines under the engines under the engine board as that is the point of access for the boat. One of the builders had actually switched out the engine board for a Perspex clear sheet so you could see the engine at the Crick Boat Show, and there were also manufacturer stands showing the engines out of boats. The Crick Boat Show is aimed solely at the inland waterways boat market, with far more relevant stands to narrowboating while this BoatLife show was aimed more at the sea faring market.
