"Too hot to clean" Brilliant lol 😂😂😂 Fabulous new home I absolutely love it. Could you not have blinds on the inside of the skylights? I remember my uncle having them on his boat, it also had fly screens. Mind you his roof hatches weren't as big as yours. Love all the added features. The outside shower is great, we used to use it after a swim, also good for those that go overboard lol.

😂. Any excuse Jay. We have been looking at an internal blind solution. I am sure you can get ones in suction cups that may do the trick. I think the size of the skylights makes it difficult. Let's all be honest with ourselves... There are many different boat builders. You can get a dozen on Google... But this is not a boat! It is an 'Oakums'... They're known for their luxury interiors and attention to detail. The pride in their work is 1st Class! I wouldn't be looking elsewhere if I was in the market for a boat. You two fortunate people are lucky to own such a boat!

A really good and close look at everything aboard. There was not one thing that I thought "They should have done this or that". Between you and Oakhams you really thought it all out perfectly. Please keep a log of electric use/how many times and hours you have to run the genny. I think most people will be eager to see that. When I say, you have a fantastic boat, I do not exaggerate one iota. It is modern in rather classic world of ploddiing narrow boats, but you will fit in the saying "That's the way to do it!" - Thanks very much for a most interesting video, I wish you both happiness, reliability and above all SAFE cruising. Hi you three. Congrats on your new home. To be fair, I can see it is very (very) expensive - heading for a conventional wide-beam price. However, what you have secured is almost certainly the best narrowboat I have ever seen. From basic considerations - the structure allowing much under-gunwale storage; the propulsion method and whole-boat fuel considerations; the almost 2kw of solar provision; the massive skylights; the utility / boot room; the Pullman dinette; the wide bed, etc etc. Then there's the life-style aspects - all that light, great in Summer but even better on dull winter days. If I were moving onto the canals and funds were not a major limitation, then I can think of no better blueprint to go to your boat-builder with and ask for almost a carbon copy (I might ask for that couch-shelf to be installed as part of the build and, err, err, that's about it. (From my perspective, good to support a Derbyshire firm, too). Thanks for showing us round - best wishes to Dexter - and yourselves.

It's great to see narrowboats finally getting into lithium, and I'm glad you made the point about lithium ion being different to lithium iron phosphate because I suspect that's one reason why people are hesitant to make the switch. In the sailing liveaboard world, lithium is pretty much standard now. We've had ours for some years and would never go back, they're a real game-changer. We also switched to induction cooking and don't miss trying to get gas bottles refilled in foreign lands, but I'll be interested to follow your reliance on solar, being in the UK. Here in the tropics our batteries (400aH) are fully charged by midday on solar alone (1kw), but in rainy season we sometimes have to use the generator if we're not motoring. I'd be interested to see how you get on in the short, dark winter months. Your boat is beautiful, with excellent attention to detail. May you spend many happy years aboard her! Love it! So much more storage in this boat. I've watched from the beginning of the build and it just seems so surreal to see it all finished. I love all the features for Dexter and your parents, so much thought into things. It's just beautiful! Wonderful new memories to be had. 🥰
