It's intriguing how Celebrity Cruises often features young people in their ads, despite the majority of passengers being 80 years old or older. It's disappointing that they aim for a younger audience but fail to take significant action to attract them. Simply showcasing young individuals in videos isn't enough. If they genuinely want to appeal to a younger demographic, they need to offer entertainment and activities geared towards them, even if it means adjusting pricing for older passengers. While I remain a fan of Celebrity Cruises and will continue sailing with them, it's imperative that they learn from companies like Virgin Voyages and make meaningful changes soon.

I just came off my 1st Celebrity Cruise but far from my first cruise. It was the first X ship to cruise to Coco Cay so we booked 3 Prime Aquaclass balcony rooms to enjoy the inaugural sailing. They gotta check that dust behind and under the TV dresser. Besides that the cruising age ranged from "this may be my last" to "Grandma brought me". However, the vast majority were over 55, white upper middle class couples. They throw one heck of a party on that ship and it warmed my heart to see these older travelers party harder than I've ever seen at sea. My favorite X commercial is the one where the very well dressed 60+ lady appears to be thanking people for an award she received but as she goes on you realize she is thanking the Ship's Crew and her family from the MDR stairs. 😂That X commercial captures their demo perfectly. Unfortunately today companies refuse to make a commercial with a value proposition towards their actual customer base. They spend so much of the commercial featuring the people cast to fulfill the modern DE&I commitments template that any brand could be inserted in another forgettable generic presentation. Most travelers get into cruising because they see their friend's travels. They become cruisers because RCCL gives the experience of a lifetime, every time, then quickly and politely kicks you off their ship.😊

@@CBEACHMEDIA I beg to differ - Celebrity's previous campaign from a few months ago was squarely targeted at a younger generation that typically wouldn't cruise. In fact, that's why they showed the brand and cruise ship last. I feel, though, that it captured the essence of Celebrity perfectly. As for the age group - I'm squarely in the 'who cares?' camp. If people pay, obviously Celebrity will accept that. And if they're tailoring to my needs on a vacation, I don't really care about the age group of others, and I definitely fall under the mean age on X.

@@sheepcute There is an opinion in marketing that Companies should market to consumers outside their core demographic. The logic is growing their customer base especially if there is high brand loyalty amongst existing customers. Another reason they do this is to try to change their brand image for a myriad of reasons too numerous to list but I'm sure you could think of several. One point I would like to push back on is the age or demographic of a cruise. On very large Ships with 3,000+ passengers pretty much everyone can find their groove and people they mesh with. Probably the best place on Earth, besides a line at a NC BBQ Restaurant, to meet great people is on a cruise. However, if you ever River Cruise or World Cruise, or some of those obscure European and Caribbean Cruise Lines you might want to check the clientele. Some of them are snoozefests on purpose. Not Celebrity though. I'm going again next week.

Good point! We're in our early 60s and just come back from a Celebrity cruise and to be honest the majority of people are middle aged 40 + years and older. To be honest they will except anybody who is paying wont they? Our cruise was booked over 14 months ago so the recent price hike and gauging didn't really effect us ? All gratuities were already payed under the previous all inclusive scheme plus we got around $600 on board credit for booking at future cruises on a previous cruise. We've left a deposit for a future cruise ( yet to be determined) and they are a heck of a lot dearer plus we only got $200 on board credit. All cruise lines are expensively priced at the moment and I'm guessing most of us who have got the advantage of yesterday's price and benefits will think again when we get the prices for future cruises and then maybee lower prices and benefits may reappear.
