The crazy thing about Zoro taking Luffy’s pain is, Luffy is made out of rubber so most of the pain he gets doesn’t even hurt Luffy. The fact that Zoro took ALL of his pain on top of his own is insane. Zoro is the goat

Zoro told Luffy when they first met "If you do anything to get in the way of me becoming the world's greatest swordsman, I'm going to make you commit hara-kiri (honorable suicide)." Going from that to offering his head instead of Luffy's is a fantastic character arc for someone with very little character to speak of. This is also a big moment for Sanji. Sanji was willing to kill himself to protect Zeff's dream of owning a seafaring restaurant, but Zoro's battle with Mihawk was a crisis for Sanji in that regard. MelonTree does a great couple videos on Sanji and his relationship with Zoro.

Luffy didnt experience all that pain the way Zoro did. Luffy is made out of rubber, so a lot of attacks didnt really cause a lot of damage, but Zoro takes the full impact of any strike that Luffy took

just because he is made of rubber doesnt mean he dont feel any pain. he wouldnt feel pain from normal punches and fall but if he pushes to extreme he will definitely feel pain. Zoro only survived because of the plothole. The story in thriller bark didnt had any other impact apart from this moment. otherwise it really didnt made any sense because no human can survive that. Sometimes the writer goes a little extreme to show that Zoro is tough.

In the filler episodes at Alabasta where Zoro, Chopper and Luffy went astray, Zoro tells Chopper that he has a new reason emerged in the crew but when Chopper asked what it was, Zoro refused to answer. Well, that's only filler but that's kind of foreshadowing the "Nothing Happened" scene.

Zoro even stated that Mihawk was less human then a seraphim so I don't think Mihawk has enough emotion to be attracted to Boa to be petrified like Luffy didn't get petrified beacuase he isn't attracted to her. But I feel like most people don’t really understand that this shows us a lot of Sanji’s character: he literally thinks HE is replaceable so it’s ok if he dies but to him Zoro is Irreplaceable so he will sacrifice himself instead for Zoro and the rest of the crew. luffy took a lot of pain but zoro arguably took more if not the same amount as luffy . remember he said taking just 1 hit from oars could be extremly bad and he ended up taking multiple hits , he fought ryuma & he fought kuma . & even after taking his pain AND luffys pain hes still standing and awake

Some people like to skip past the implications of Zoro surviving that to power scale Zoro's durability to be greater than that of Luffy's, which I absolutely disagree with. Luffy went to sleep leaving everything to his crew mates. He knew he had finished the job, so he could rest easy. If Luffy had known about Kuma, he wouldn't have gone down like he did. Even if we ignore these implications, speaking from a power scaling perspective, Luffy's rubber body negates most of the damage he takes. He can immediately get up after giant Moria punches him while anyone else would have gone down. So, what Luffy's body absorbs as damage is a very small percentage compared to what he takes. Zoro took only what Luffy absorbed, not what Luffy took. Or else, Zoro would have died from that.
