don't want to talk for Laurent, but the text at the beginning answers your question pretty much. I guess the ideas came to Laurent's mind because he is been moving for several years, and i don't know a single person who after doing parkour for lot of years, didnt experiment with creative movement and started to love diferent kinds of movement, not only efficient a-to-b deplacements.
