This is a good comedy with a clever script that is worth seeing, if possible (it never got a general commercial release). It turned me into a fan of the song "Say its only a paper moon", the lyrics of which kind of provides the film with its theme. Bill Murray and Dan Aykroyd did this at the same time as doing Ghostbusters. The lead actor, though, is Gilligan, playing 'Adam' 'Beckett', the original-absurd-young-man-striving-to-be-an--artist. The theme music for the film is Chopin's "Heroic Polonaise", an anthem celebrating the 1848 revolutions in Europe.

It was filmed in 1982, a year before Ghostbusters.

Why can nobody in comedy convincing play blue collar guys anymore? Ackroyd , Murray, John Candy , Chevy Chase, John & Jim Belushi , Michael Keaton, I could go on. All these guys could play working guys both hysterically & convincingly, because at heart, they were working, blue collar guys. It’s not like that anymore, and we’re worse off for it.

Maybe to the moon. But in reality, probably in a vault somewhere.

@@davidbow-tie It's not my vault! But seriously, have you seen the trailer for the 2017 AFS 35mm screening of the film? It's still up here on YT; they had director Tom Schiller "reelly" there - he coulda answered this question!

What part of that scene was supposed to be funny?
@joeyclemenza73396 жыл бұрын
It’s not really supposed to be pants-busting, rolling over and falling out of your chair funny.... but charming. Also giving you a bit more insight on who Adam Beckett is.

I literally laughed out loud at the out-of-state license plate line. It's good absurd fun.
