That's interesting and shows a lot of dedication. I'm wondering if you could use a tool, like those stone "finger-shaped" massage tools, to use instead? Or is the heat from the actual friction generated by your finger needed to assist with the melting of the lead? Just curious about the process.

Thank you for the great comment! It does take heat from the finger to melt the lead, especially with colored pencils where they're wax-based. The callus was just an inevtiable consequence! I retired from art about 8 years ago, but it will probably never go away.

Thank you for the concern, it really doesn't bother me now that I've had it so long. It's mostly numb, as are most calluses, it just looks funky. There's a medical term for it, but I can't remember what it is 😅 I've seen pictures of people with calluses 3 or 4 times larger than this one, depending on what work they've done. Thanks again!
