I have a dance coming up on Friday, I got this extremely cute dress and thought I had a matching pair of heels to go with it, I went home to go try on everything (just to be prepared) while I was going to try everything on I decided to try the shoes as well. Unfortunately I found that my dog ate my heels. ;-; I have so many tests to do this week so I have to study. My mom says that I shouldn't buy the pair of heels but I feel that i'll be the only one without matching formal attire, It would be the 1st formal dance I would have ever been to. the last thing I want is to be wearing sneakers with a short dress. how can I convince my parent to get me a pair of heels and show her how important the dance Is to me?

So, there are a few options here: 1. Consider wearing a different pair of heels. They don't need to match your dress! Black, silver, gold or nude heels are very versatile and can be worn with tons of different colors. You can also wear heels that give your outfit a pop of color! For example: pink, red or yellow heels could look cute with a navy dress. Have fun with it! How you dress should express who you are, so forget about those "rules" and wear something that you like. 2. If you still really want heels like the ones you had, try taking a very adult approach to convince your parents. If you explain rationally why the heels are so important, and let them know that you're willing to do anything for them (like taking the trash out for two weeks), you might be able to reach an agreement. ...and keep the dog away from your shoes! :) Hope this helps!

I have a question about my period. My friend told me that you usually get your first period around the same time as your mom did. Is that true? If it is,my mom told me she got it when was 13. I'm 12 and my birthday is on Friday. Should I be expecting it soon?

Yes, that is a good way to estimate when your period is coming. However, don't go completely by this. My mom got her period when she was twelve, and I got mine when I was ten. Sometimes us girls aren't exactly like our mother. But at the same time, some girls do get them at the same age their mom did. To be prepared, ask your mom if you can buy some pads, just in case. Keep a box under your bathroom sink. Also, keep a "just in case kit" filled with two or three pads, a pair of underwear, and a plastic bag in your backpack just in case your period catches you at school. That way you can change your underwear and put the dirty pair in the plastic bag. Even though I already have my period, I still keep this kit in my backpack just in case I haven't been tracking my cycle and it catches me by surprise. That is another important thing, once you get your period, track your cycle. I use an app called Clue on my IPhone, but you can also just use a calendar and put a dot on the days you have your period. P.S. Once you have your period, you might worry about changing your pad at school. I was super worried when I first got mine. It helps to have a friend go to the bathroom with you. You might just even have to say "it's a girly thing" to your friend and they will probably get the memo. Don't pick a friend that you barely know though, I always have my same, best friend go with me, so have your same, best friend go with you too. I hope this helped.

Ohh that's tricky! Honesty is always the best policy, but be super nice about it. Thank your mom for finding a new option, but explain to her why you don't like the one she chose. Maybe you don't like the color, or you prefer dresses that in another style. Nicely explain to her your reasons, so she can keep this in mind in the future.
