In this video tutorial i'm using mercerized cotton yarns called YarnArt Begonia(50g/169m/185yds) of Turkish origin. The hook is 2.7mm (or C/2 in USA size or 12 in Canada/UK size). Diameter 58 cm

So on the first round 35 double crochets does the chain 3 at the beginning make it a total of 36 if so on the second round I got 9 instead of a total of 8 why I wonder

I haven't done the doily, but that adds up correct, you should have 9 groups, because the repeat is 8xs and you already did 3ch and 3dc in the next 3 sts. 4 x 9 is 36, so ch3 does/must count as a st. :) hope this helps, I noticed your comment was a year ago and you didn't get a reply.
