Hi Gregory, Thanks for your simple tip. I was struggling learning notion because so many people teaching very complex way to utilizing the notion theseday. it looks like using notion itself become a big task. but I learnt here very best tip that is adding the checkbox on the timeline view. this kind of simple way can allow me to share my timeline with my team. otherwise, using the complex way is always ignored by people using existing excel, ppt. so Notion should be very very easy to use!

I'm always surprised about how your mind works! Thank you for this video! You gave me more ideas to try in my setup for next year. I tried creating more than 6 timeline views in my personal account, and that worked just fine but I don't want to rely on this view and get they blocked someday hahaha I hope they change their minds about the limitations. This is a powerful tool but even with the possibility of changing the range of the view, I feel like I need this timeline in more than one page and more than one view so I can sort in different ways... Thanks again!

I love the timeline view and your tutorials. Very clear!!! one thing I miss is the option to create a parent task with subtasks where the due date of the subtasks is based upon the parent task. F.e. parent task is set to January first > subtask is automatically set from January second to January 3rd. The idea is to create a template for my content creation. I know how long each step takes me to complete so I could click one button and know what I have to do on which day automatically. If anyone knows how to do this.. I m all ears.

Interesting, curious to know how dependent tasks gets their start dates inherit from their predecessors task’s end dates. That will build automatic end to start kind of dependencies. This will help to determine critical paths I have been trying to build that but it seems notion roll up properties of date element doesn’t finds their way to timelines “filter by” menu There must be a way to get that done, Waiting to see that
@giuseppegiorgio91853 жыл бұрын
Anybody knows how to do that?

Good explanation. One thing, however. Notion android app will not let you use a slash. You must pick what you want from the little bar that pops up when you click an empty space.

Hi, how to get a timeline view of relation and rollup in notion?
@gregoryepps19564 жыл бұрын
Great video, thanks!! Are you planning on building out an example for dependancies? This seems like great way to merge the ability to interface with the timeline lengths 'manually' i.e. by grabbing the bar and extending it, and maintaining the typical "start after end" Gantt relationship through a database relationship.
@gregoryepps19564 жыл бұрын
So I had a go, using a 2-way relation to take the End Date from Card 1 as Start Date for Card 2 but the "Timeline by" options won't accept a date from a Rollup or Equation.. any thoughts?

Can you do a video on how to manage your workload on the timeline view with multiple projects? So like if you only have a certain amount of hours you work per day, it will show you when you've overscheduled too many tasks, based on estimated time it takes to complete the task?

Very cool! Great for Gantt Charts. However, I can't find a way to show more than one page in the same line. Even though it can limit and filter the number of cards shown, it kind of makes it impossible to turn a calendar with tens of tasks into a timeline without occupying a huge space. Does anyone know how to fix that?

How would i track the progress of subtasks inside of tasks and show it in a column next to it? I have a master task list, and a task template with subtasks. I want to track the percentage of the "done" tasks and show it on the master task list one level above. Would i be able to link it to a template i can just create and have that automatically show the completion rate inside the master task table?

Thank you for your thorough and useful videos! Can we have multiple databases shown on a single timeline, or is it per database strictly?
@Coco-xi9hq4 жыл бұрын
this was dope! thanks. I'm going to use this to track projects along with the steps involved. Is there a way to color the entire bar? This way, for example, Project 1 (and its steps) are all red and then the next project down can be all blue? For now, just using a blank to create a space between projects.
@feariie_2 жыл бұрын
Hi Red, thank you for this awesome video ! Would one be able to create a new version of this with dependent automatic dates ? I've been trying to do so but I am not sure as to how I could achieve that. Maybe creating a formula which divides a date range of a project into smaller date ranges depending on the number of subtasks ? 🤔 Would love to hear your thoughts on that !

Hello , Could you please help me understand the relation property part. I am working on creating a daily time line and I would like to add in each daily phase task that need to happened inside them to be 100% completed. Each daily has different task - (would not be the same) Could you please help me getting an idea. It would be very much appreciated I could not understand the children and parent relation that you created. Thanks

I have a question! So, I plan with four levels like you do - I call them Annual Goals, Quarterly Goals (which are chunks of Annual Goals), Projects (which are chunks of quarterly goals), and Tasks (which are individual items within a quarterly goal). So it's similar - you call them HL goal 1, ML Goal 1, LL Goal 1, Task. What's confusing me: I have separate (linked) databases for each of my 4 levels. For the Timeline view like this - essentially you need to have one database, with the name of each page coding for the type of goal? So I should merge my 4 databases into one? Rather than 4 databases even if they link to each other?
@thejaysehansen3 жыл бұрын
Same question here. Everyone shows diff databases for each level, but this needs one database for all levels. Just wondering what the ramifications of that are - (and also HOW would you merge all the databases into one? Manually I'd assume?) Great content btw! Fantastic!

what a mess :P Notion should have a look at Gantt chart tools how this is done properly ^^
@RedGregory3 жыл бұрын
It's not the best for gantt charting compared to other programs, I agree. I wonder why you believe it to be a "mess" though?
@Thommynat0r3 жыл бұрын
@Red Gregory in gantt chart tools you can embed child tasks into tasks. You can make tasks dependent on each other, for example if one task takes longer than expected all dependent tasks are moved automatically. You see instantly if you overall are still in time. Maybe for some really basic forms of project planning you can use this in notion, but there are many free gantt chart tools out there, which are much better (of course not connected to notion)
@RedGregory3 жыл бұрын
@@Thommynat0r Interesting. Thank you for answering. These functions can be implemented in Notion with some tweaking but I can understand how you'd want these features out of the box and free. For me, timeline is definitely a lot weaker visually than I wanted it to be.
@alpha12th2 жыл бұрын
@@Thommynat0r Agree with you currently Notion might not ready for more complex project planning. What good free Gannt chart tools you recommend?
