I just had a look at Notion's API and their rate limits and response sizes alone will mean they will never replace Microsoft power platform. The capability of notion is a tiny fraction of what you can do on power platform and that is unlikely to ever change because Microsoft is big enough to always be able to throw just enough resources to stay one step ahead.

The fact that every entry is it's own page I think is an undermarketed selling point. Honestly was the number one reason I moved my entire life over to notion.
@xaneriaann3 жыл бұрын
I agree. My entire family, business, and personal life is in Notion. That being said, the fact that I can't create a database-like list that can be quantified (such as a task database where I can track how many are complete vs how many remain) that can be implemented into a template makes project management for myself difficult. I have some projects that have 64+ steps and I'd rather not have to create each of those steps, EVERY TIME I create that project, in my master task list. I don't know how complicated it would be to add a function that can count your /todo list ✔, but it is a dream.

It is great that even the developers of notion use notion to organise how Notion improves.
@xeasonchan94014 жыл бұрын
I wish Notion would have Mind Map View, so we can organize the pages and texts in a more intuitive way. And I think it's not really hard to do, we could simply add "parent" and "SubPages" property in a page, and Notion could show it like a tree data structure.

I’d like to see Notion get better in the mobile, there seems to be a priority to desk top. Notion could at least allow the Desktop version to be accessed via iOS through the web browser, Coda does so I don’t understand why Notion stopped doing it.

Some random tips: There are other ways to quickly set the block type: 1. `1.` can quickly add a numbered list block. 2. `*` can quickly add an unordered list block. 3. `#` can quickly add a Heading 1 block. 4. `##` can quickly add a Heading 2 block. 5. `###` can quickly add a Heading 3 block. 6. Triple backtick can quickly add a code block. 7. `@` can quickly mention a person. There are also other ways to set the styles of a text : 1. ``text`` will style 'text' as a code. 2. `*text*` will style 'text' as *italic.* 3. `**text**` will style 'text' as **bold.** 4. `***text***` will style 'text' as ***italic-bold***.

Is there some kind of API or plugin system? For example I have a lot of books and other kinds of info in Zotero with tags, description and so on. But I cannot import it in Notion. It would be possible if I could write a simple CSV reader (for CSV files coming form Zotero) that imports data into Notion they way that makes the most sense for use in Notion. Also Zotero has very useful browser extension to generate book entries from web pages (Amazon book pages, Wikipedia articles, Google Book pages, internet pages, and so on). It would be nice to be able to do the same with Notion. Also it would be useful to write a function that exports Notion book list into bib format in order to use it with Emacs org mode. All of these tasks would be possible with API. So it would be very useful to a lot of people in a lot of cases.

"every entry is its own page": can't understand that. That doesn't seem the case in my own database: it only works for cells in one single column. Even though I'm juggling the different property types.
@kuntperfekta4 жыл бұрын
Tables are organised with the entries in rows, with the name and then the properties (which can be whatever kind of property you choose). When the video refers to an 'entry', they are referring to the entire row, not just an individual cell. You can access the entry's page by hovering over the name column, and then pressing 'open'. Hope that helps :)
