I know this may be obvious but the baking temp and time depends on the clay, I know FIMO is 110°C for 30 min but Sculpey has a temp of 135°C for 15-30 minutes depending on thickness. Just letting people know, so they don’t over- or underbake the clay. The baking time should be on your packaging and once it’s cooled off. You can also check by pricking your nail into the piece on a place where it’s not visible, if it leaves a mark, you’re good but if you go through, put it in the oven a big longer.

I was gonna say, the clay i use requires me to have my oven at 275° and to bake for 30 minutes so the tempt he used wouldnt fully bake my clay 😅

Yes, I knew. I made a couple last year. None of the trees survived... Not sure if bonsai do well in them, because it was really hot last year and I made shohin and mame sized pots. So they might have dried out or... The clay was bad for the soil. Gonna try again, to make sure.

You shouldn’t use vaseline with polymer clay, it keeps the layers from properly bonding. Try using baby oil, cooking oil, or a dedicated clay softener.

I tried this with Air drying clay. Huge fail they soaked up the water and got mushy. I will have to try your method!

Oh yeah you'd totally need to add a coating of some sort to the clay, idk what's none toxic to plants but some options (if they are) would be stuff like resin or a spray clear coat like mister super clear or rustoleum, Def possible but needs that extra step + research into the sealant/varnish
