Christmas 1987 l was 13 ,my mother bought me IRON MAIDENS live after death concert cassette, and I was blown away, I listened to that tape for 10 years until I wore it out ,then I bought the remastered collection on CD. Bruce singing Phantom of the Opera live is my favorite version of the song. Love all their albums up the IRONS!!

the first maiden album I ever heard was live after death...I just loved the cover art, and when I heard it I was only 15...I pushed play on my cassette deck, and holy fuck was I ever amazed at the pure genius of these songs...the structure, the harmonies, the tone, the subject matter...then I heard seventh son afterwards...also digging the cover art...once I heard that album, I knew I had discovered the best metal band in existence...and to this day, no one comes even close to their sound, their energy, and stage presence...I mean what I discovered when I was 15 was pure fucking magic...long live this incredible band!!! the best song I've ever heard live would be the rime of the ancient mariner. I remember during the mid-part of this song, the ground was shaking like hell! This gig was awesome. So hot, sweaty and mental. Everybody having a good time, not a fight in sight just 56000 people enjoying the love of music.l I actually prefer this slower tempo version in favor of the one on record.

I love the ambiance here. And I love this song! In July 1992 I was finishing up my first three oil paintings at my parents house on Glen Road in Danville California. "Woman in the Garden" was one of them. I painted the red jug with yellow stripes outside the door while I listened to "Phantom of the Opera" on Live after Death on my dual Sharp red cassette player. The vocals on this song were done by Paul Di'Anno and for some reason the tempo was slowed down for this live presentation. So I wouldn't call it "exactly the same live and in studio version". But yeah, they have an extraordinary quality playing live.

I agree, I prefer Paul on the early stuff but Bruce sounds great here he's not screaming unnecessarily, it sounds better for the early stuff, screaming wailing is fine for the Bruce stuff., just not really for the Paul stuff.
