Tonight is a really special night for us and we would like to play a very very special song which we haven't played for many many year. It's a song which - I was in a band a long time ago, before I was in Iron Maiden, there was the New Wave of British Heavy Metal, sometime before you were born. Anyway... embarrassingly... I was in a band called Samson and Iron Maiden, Iron Maiden was our support band one evening. Well, they blew us offstage and they played this one song and I'd never heard a metal band play a song like this before and this song really is everything that Iron Maiden is all about. I know that you understand it because you are the hardcore of Iron Maiden fans in all of Sweden. But I should warn anyone watching the television that thinks that any minute now they're going to turn over and Wimbledon is going to be on, or football that for the next eight minutes there may be something very strange going on with your television. And if you don't like heavy metal, I advise you to go away before you have a heart attack and die, alright? ...THE PHANTOM. OF. THE OPERAAAA!"

I've been looking so long for you now you won't get away from my grasp. You've been living so long in hiding in hiding behind that false mask. And you know and I know that you ain't got long now to last. Your looks and your feelings are just the remains of your past. You're standing in the wings, there you wait for the curtain to fall. Knowing the terror and holding you have on us all. Yeah, I know that you're gonna scratch me, maim me and maul. You know I'm helpless from your mesmerising cat call. Keep your distance, walk away, don't take his bait. Don't you stray, don't fade away. Watch your step, he's out to get you, come what may. Don't you stray, from the narrow way. I'm running and hiding in my dreams you're always there. You're the Phantom of the Opera, you're the devil, you're just out to scare. You damaged my mind and my soul it just floats through the air. Haunt me, you taunt me, you torture me back at your lair.

Call from Australia! Saw Iron Maiden at Bruce Stadium. Saw them at Canberra Theatre. Between times always played this song original and live. Forward many years. Now found this version. My son was pulling it out on his aucoustic guitar this same week. Heard him play it on electric when he was younger. He fell in love with rock a few years ago. Fell in love with his guitar. I remember during the mid-part of this song, the ground was shaking like hell! This gig was awesome. So hot, sweaty and mental. Everybody having a good time, not a fight in sight just 56000 people enjoying the love of music.l I actually prefer this slower tempo version in favor of the one on record.

I love the ambiance here. And I love this song! In July 1992 I was finishing up my first three oil paintings at my parents house on Glen Road in Danville California. "Woman in the Garden" was one of them. I painted the red jug with yellow stripes outside the door while I listened to "Phantom of the Opera" on Live after Death on my dual Sharp red cassette player. I'll never forget it!🤘🎨🎸

The vocals on this song were done by Paul Di'Anno and for some reason the tempo was slowed down for this live presentation. So I wouldn't call it "exactly the same live and in studio version". But yeah, they have an extraordinary quality playing live.

Joder, son los Maiden en directo, tocando el fantasma de la ópera. Cómo no iba a gustarte.. 😛 Es imposible que suene mal. Yo personalmente prefiero la versión original con Clive y Paul, pero cualquier formación de la historia de los Maiden, ha sido buenísima.
