1000 % agree .. The songs he and Steinman created were not 2 or 3 minutes like we see today.. They were over 10 minutes and some hit 14 minutes and had many verses…

Well, he was a Broadway star hired to sing an album that Jim Steinman had just written. So, yeah, he was unknown in the mainstream, but he was well known in theatre. He'd been appearing on Broadway for probably 8 years before bat out of hell came out .

Bat Out of Hell was released when I was 18. Teens of today will never experience the sheer joy of driving in your car with your guy and girl friends, with the windows rolled down, and singing this song at the top of your lungs!!! Everyone else was listening to BSB and I was blasting "Paradise by the Dashboard Lights". He had some hard times and so many health issues but despite it all he really left his mark. I'm so happy I saw him in concert in 2016. His voice wasn't as strong any more but he was still iconic and he put on one helluva show. Rest easy Meat. ❤🦇
