Riley Leonard stood in the pocket and made stuff happen yesterday. That's my biggest positive surprise. His interception wasn't a great throw, but it was tipped, not just thrown to a defender. He put the ball in great spots all game, and could have been well over 70% completion with just a few more catches that got dropped. Runs were well timed and well-executed. Defense was cooking with gas, and JLove proved that he is one of the top 3 backs in the entire country.

ND's schedule was pretty weak as well. That said, ND just has a better roster top to bottom than IU. Elite talent of the blood bloods is hard to withstand for 60 minutes. Pretty sure SMU, Boise, ASU, will find out as well. Final point is, there are only about 3-6 teams that can win the championship on any given season. This year is no different.

I knew this natrative of how bad IU was wouod play out if Notre Dame won. If they beat Georgia (which will be a real test), the narrative will be because Georgia's starting QB didn’t play. They make it to the chip, it will be because they had an easy bracket. If they win it all, it will be because the other team went through a gauntlet and lost key players. People gloss over that ND lost a captain and star on Oline before season started, lost both Vipers, and had another transfer. Love hasn't been at 100% for about 2 months, and they may have just lost another star last night. EVERYONE is banged up at this point in the year. As for their schedule: They played Purdue 60-7. Looking at SOS... Ohio State and Oregon played them, and only scored half as many points against Purdue. Do I think Oregon and Ohio St. are half as good as ND, hell no. How did who ND play against fair against other CFP teams. Had same 10 point spread against Texas A&M as Texas ND beat Georgia Tech by 18. Georgia Tech beat Miami, and took Georgia to OT ND beat USC by 14. USC played close games with Penn State & Michigan, and beat LSU. ND & SMU beat Stanford by similar point spreads. ND only loss came to Northern Illinois in week 2. Northern Illinois got beat by Miami (OH) 20-9. ND then beat Miami (OH) 20-3. Bad day? Over-confident after Texas A&M? Poor prep? Match-ups, comparisons, injuries, travel for away games, weather, personal lives of players outside of football...at the end of the day, statistics are only cliff notes, and analyzing all go out the window when the game starts. As for "joining a conference," conferences started to take regional teams and make them national names and compete for broadcadt money that Notre Dame as an independent designed a blueprint for. They played 1 year in ACC and were in the Vonference championship. They play several conference teams annually. Conference doesn’t mean shit regsrdkess right...based off most of social media's take on IU's. You either love or hate them. Nothing eill be good enough if it's the latter.

Indiana, they are who I always thought they were - a Big 10 fraud that padded their statistics against mostly awful Big 10 competition, and thanks to a dumb CFP committee who ignored conference strength of schedule, much better SEC teams got left out of the CFP! The CFP process isn't working if the goal is to produce good games. It isn't supposed to produce shit game matchups, and this was a shit game matchup. Despite the final score, this game was over in the first half.

I agree that SCar, Bama and Ole Miss are all better than IU but.. you can't lose 3 games and expect to make the cfp. You can't lose late in the season to Florida and expect to slide by the committee and into the field of 12. You definitely can't travel to Norman and get absolutely smacked by one of the worse OU squads in decades. You just can't. The SEC screwed SCar over themselves by having conference officiating protect LSU & Bama Vs the Gamecocks. Not SCar's fault at all but definitely a case of the SEC meddling with it's own product to it's detriment.. 💯🤷🏽‍♂️ I respect SCAR and really believe they should he 11-1/2 maybe even 12-1 and the 2 seed waiting on Notre Dame next week. For sure. SEC: stop meddling with your regular season results and you'd have stnkeast one more team in the field this postseason,!?
