My home burned that day in the fire on Bedard st. I was in kindergarten 5 years old at Notre Dame school. My brother was in the burning church practicing his first communion with our second grade class. This is an emotional memory that is etched very deep for us families that awaited for our family members , friends and neighbors to be found and recovered safely, as our hearts had alarming beats with horror of peoples cries and screams. Thank you for sharing!!

I was 7 years old in that church rehearsing for first communion when the fire started, I also lived on bedard st. We lost our house and watched the entire fire across the st in the parking lot that they moved us to when the fire started. That day was insane. Will never forget.

The best part is that you lived because of 30+ fire stations throughout MA and RI that help save and fight, and the second best was the people of Fall river and others who clothes and refurnished us. Thanks you all !!

30 years ago today. At 35 right now, I can safely say this was one of my first memories. Very scary to see a church fire.

Wow this brings back memories. I was 10, and living in Providence when it happened. What amazes me is how that fire spread. I always thought a priest started it accidentally, for some reason. Thanks man!

I lived on Bedard Street at the time and my house burned down. We lost everything. I am grateful no one was killed. I was in the 3rd grade. I remember it like it was yesterday and still can remember the smells and screams. Thank you for sharing this video.

We were real close neighbors. I lived on Maynard st., I'd hate to think If the fire was at night, There would have been a lot of deaths... In 1982 I was 15. My home was spared although they watered it down. Summers at Lafayette pool and penny candy from Valancourts were the good memories I had.

I was 9 years old and at my aunt's house on Weyboset st. There's a fire station on the corner and I can still hear the fire fighters yelling notre dame is burning. I went outside and looked towards the church and couldn't believe how high the flames were. That day is burned into my memory, no pun Intended.

I will never forget the day my mother broke down crying as she saw it burning on national news. I went to Mass with my Memere many times when we visited her. The Mass was in French, but it didn't matter to me because I was there with my grandmother. My mothers family were French Canadian immigrants who came to this country to start a new life, legally. They did not place demands on this country to accommodate their foreign language or give them entitlements. I wish I could go back in time.

Sorry I can't remember where that groove even came from for the credits. It may be something I got from Garage Band on the Mac? But it very well could have been made with a Korg OASY or a Yamaha synth.

I was 9 years old and lived on Pleasant St. I remember watching the fire and hoping it wouldn't get to my house. Does anyone remember the construction company that was responsible for starting the fire?

All mill cities are like that. I now live in Pawtucket, RI, a mill city that's seen it's share of fires.
