I've been a Notre Dame for fan for 45 years.. I have begun to accept that we are never going to be an elite and totally dominate program again unless many things change, and most of that has to do with the administration and how they view football in general.. Nick Saban has won 7 National Championship's and been in 10 National Championship's since ND has won a major bowl game in I believe 1993... That says enough right there that notre dame is content with being where they are, If marcus freeman had the power he would have had a different offensive coordinator, and he would of done more then what he has done with our whole program in general.. And I believe he would have ND in a better position right now when it comes to our, present, and our future.... I think all of us should just learn to accept, That we are a second tier program and have been for the last 35 years.... Notre dame has more of what it takes to be a top tier program than anyone in the country and it's just not happening now or maybe EVER!!!!

@@eltonjohnson1724 I am too my friend. This team defensively is good enough to play w anybody. Secondary is so good, the front 7 can blitz at will. Offensively, it’s a big shit show and i think it’s an inexperienced head coach paired w an inexperienced OC, combined w a scheme that is outdated that’s at fault. It's why MF is recruiting elite QBs that can actually scramble, massive interior DL that can plug up holes, WRs that can fly, and TEs that can really catch the ball, tall CBs, and LBs with length and speed. He's addressing the deficiencies very quickly.

@@tommyirish5446 In my opinion, the '66 team might have been the last of the really great ND teams---despite the tie with Michigan State in East Lansing. Notre Dame was marred with injuries for that game, most notably All-American Nick Eddy (7 ypc),who didn't even dress for the game, and its star QB Terry Hanratty who was knocked out of the game in the 1st quarter. The next week, they travelled to LA and demolished the Pac 10 's (or Pac 8's?) representative to the Rose Bowl , Southern Cal 51-0! That team just didn't win---it dominated.

Notre Dame has a low octane offense that struggles to move the ball against above average defenses. Parker needs to be demoted back to TE's coach. They need a real offensive coordinator who can scheme and adjust like Golden does for the defense.

ND had #1 OSU beat with 4 minutes to go. I dont think its a s bad as you claim talent wise. Coaching is our problem, imo. Freeman is not getting these guys ready to play with consistency and the position coaches on the offense arent doing a good job. Heistand would have the O line cooking by now. The reciever room is not playing well as a unit. Parker is poor at running a comprehensive gameplan, and the 6th year QB, with the most TDs in CFB has regressed. Freeman needs to fix this now or he will be gone soon and we will be restarting the program again in 3 years. Hopefully, he will question everything, including his insistence on playing a scheme ND isnt equipped for.

The offensive line has been overrated, yes, but they’re not that bad. And the running backs are good to very good. The problem has been, and is, we have not had and do not have an elite quarterback and good to great receivers. Coan and Hartman had decent college careers at Wisconsin and Wake Forest respectively. They are not NFL material - thus they opted to stick around, keep trying, etc. I ‘d say ditch the transfer portal at quarterback. It has messed up everything at that position, will probably completely ruin recruiting at qb too. And of course, other than Michael Mayer, whom to throw to? Look at LSU, Ohio State, Michigan, others. Comparatively we’re a high school passing game. Unless you have a passing game in today’s college football, you’re not winning a national championship.

I like Freeman and believe he can win big at Notredame. The thing he has to do is hire an elite offensive coordinator. I think the talent is really good but terribly underutilized or not underutilized at all. Tyree,Faison, James, PriceLove, Estime are all really fast but are getting touches. Love is a touchdown waiting to happen. A great coordinator would get him the ball in space in a variety of ways. Hartman at Wake last year completed 63% of his passes and was 4th in the nation in 3rd down pass efficiency only behind Bryce Young, CJ Shroud and Caleb Williams. Notredame has done nothing to use what he did at Wake.
