All teams who get to the natty are going to get poached. Shrug. I would have liked to see one of the olinemen hang around. Everyone else I understand. I think losing Al Golden hurts. I liked Mickens for DC. But I can't imagine a world where Mickens isn't involved in the coaching eval for DC. I think he'll be there with a promotion. In terms of GM...I think there is an overvaluation of that spot. They get needs and prioritization from coaches. Coaches do the eval. Don't get me wrong...there are myriad a moving pieces, but I think a bunch of dudes can do that job...just me.

ND's offense should be worlds better next season. We might have the Joe Moore Award-winning OL and the best RB room in the country. CJ Carr is an elite QB. With Greathouse, Faison and our transfer WRs getting the ball from a competent passer with plenty of time to throw, they could light it up. I'm more concerned with the defense taking a step back. We need to get some good D-linemen. That is our biggest need. Our LBs are fantastic, and we have some very good safeties and CBs coming in. As long as we can keep Mickens, the secondary will be fine.

The difference in the final wasn't the roster or recruiting, it was one team missing 2 starters and everyone else being healthy playing a team missing 7 starters and having an all american on each side of the ball playing at 70pct.

Big Notre Dame football fan here. Very impressed by the team's play this past season! The team will have to stay on the cutting edge with some of these losses of personnel. I actually had an intriguing idea.... While I was playing chess, I was using an engine to help me determine the best moves to make, as it can be objectively determined based on a set of quantifiable and qualifiable criterion. This has helped me improve my decision making and has led to much better performances. And then I wondered...can such a similar concept be applied in some way to the game of football when it comes to playcalling? In particular: determining the objectively best playcall i.e. the call that best increases a team's win percentage. It would be a massive undertaking but it seems feasible in theory, and should be achievable at least in a rudimentary way. An algorithm could be determined based on a range of factors such as defensive personnel weaknesses, fatigue, offensive team strengths, weather conditions, down and distance, clock and a wide myriad of other relevant factors. The thought would be that each possible playcall could be evaluated and a score could be assigned. The score would be reflected by a *NET POSITIVE* rating, which would be the difference between the calculated risk and the calculated reward. For example: a play that has a reward of 8 and only a risk of 2 (perhaps a QB sneak on 4th and inches) might have the best score of +6. As someone who is not a programmer by trade, I'd love to see someone in the football program take this idea and run with it. Imagine calling the best play every single time. The odds of losing would be infinitesimally small. I feel it would be an insurmountable disadvantage to the opponent, while being completely within the rules (unlike Michigan). Just thought I would mention this idea, as we enter the off-season now. Hopefully this can be forwarded to someone with connections inside the program.

with love becoming a sophomore, i'd like the offense's to revolve around him. 15-25 touches a game, minimum. he is one of the most experienced player on the offense so i wanna see him as RB1, slot wr, PR, KR has enough body of work to declare after his junior yr, let's maximize what he has before he leaves.

This is a weak hire if it happens. I hope I am wrong and I’ll be pulling for the guy hard, no doubt. I just feel there are many guys freeman could have turned to other than Ash. I understand he had a couple other guys in mind, but he didn’t have to go from those top tier guys all the way down to Ash. Just saying. Hopefully I can come back and say I was wrong and this was a legit hire, but I’m not getting my hopes up.

1:49:07 Denbrock is the unsung hero of the team. He did a really amazing job all things considered. Look at the WR room. Look at the QB who admitted he couldn’t hit open receivers more than 12 yds down the field. It doesn’t take a lot of effort or thought to realize he’s the highest paid OC for good reason.
