I am more than pleased with what the football team have achieved. Marcus Freeman is great. The players have a resiliency that’s almost astronomical we will evolve into even a greater monstrosity in the future to come. Next year they better watch out. Down 31-7 this team could have folded but NO! This team has fought all damn year to be here. Came back down 31-15, drove down the field after a fumble recovery, Denbrock calls QB power to kill that drive. Attempted FG that was missed. Got the ball back scored to make it 31-23. OSU throws a dagger on 3rd and 11 to Smith where Golden decides to call an all out blitz when ND just needed a stop, no safety help at all. Hats off to the boys they fought hard. Some head scratching coaching calls with the fake punt and some offensive and defensive play calling.

Our second, third, fourth drives is what cost the game. Irish need a bigger defensive front. We can’t rely on our linebackers to get pressure all the time. We need them to spy and cover the flats.

That 70 yard run from OSU showed how ND needs big DL. Their front 4 got blown back. The 2nd drive when it's tied 7-7 was a killer with 20 yards in penalites.

Gray did what he could to cut off the short route on the last play to avoid giving the quick throw for an easy first down. If you send seven guys somebody has to get pressure. Desperately missed Traore, Botellho, and Mills during this game. Greathouse has shown these last two games he can be very productive and I think Fields can be a very good player. I’m optimistic about the passing game next season. One more note, I think Morrison will be back. He hasn’t declared for the draft yet and most mock drafts have him falling out of the first round. Maybe I’m just trying to manifest this though lol

Those two 3rd and 7s on Ohio State's third score during their run in the middle of the game, just one more play and different story. Could have used Riley Mills to put more pressure on Ohio State QB. And Benjamin Morrison. They battled, made it in doubt until the end.

The QB scrambles from Howard were big plays all night long. He ran more against ND than he did all season. ND had no answer for him. He was the best player in the game.

Buckeye fan here. I thought the difference in the game was Notre Dame's defense was no match for Ohio State. They couldn't follow the Michigan blueprint because Notre Dame isn't nearly as strong on the Dline as Michigan. I don't remember ND's dline getting any push on Ohio St's Oline. If ND is going to get over the hump and win a Natty they have to start recruiting/developing on the Dline like they do on the Oline.

Could not have two wasted posessions in the first half...offsides by a receiver, holding, punt...then snap into motion man debacle, punt. X Watts needed that pick to make up for the O going run and shoot themselves in the foot. D looked to be catching...tackling was bad. I get it, OSU had great players, but what you CAN do is make the plays you are in position to make...they didn't. I don't get the field goal attempt...shrug. Team fought to get out of the hole they dug. Leonard looked like a QB who could throw it a little.

@ great point but it was also early in the game. Clearly the only way ND was going to win was with a ball control run dominant game. And to me that first drive showed that they could be run on as they were getting gashed. On D it seemed like we didn’t blitz much or with the schemes we usually do because the coaches feared we couldn’t matchup outside. Our lack of aggression which got us to this game resulted in Howard picking us apart. We really needed Morrison for this game as well. The boys fought hard and had the greatest season since 88. Now pay Golden and let’s do it again next year

I'm so disappointed with Freeman and it hurts to say that. They played aggressive all playoffs and adapted that personality. Then he calls weak and soft. Not trying for points just before the half. Not going on 4th and kicking. The obviously fake kicking when he should of just ran a normal play. All Not calls he would of made the other playoff games.

In no way did they play soft. The fake punt was open, so not that obvious. Faison dropped a 1st down catch. As for the FG that doinked....It is 4th & goal at the 9. The odds of scoring are so low vs. the #1 red zone defense and #1 overall defense. Taking points to get some sense of MOJO was not a bad call. The Buckeyes are a better team than anyone ND played all season, and they lost. We are onto 2025.

If Ohio St had not hit that long 3rd down pass late and kicked a FG. ND would have received the ball and an opportunity to tie the game with plenty of time.
