Florida State wins its 23rd consecutive game with a 31-27 victory over Notre Dame in a huge top 5 showdown. Jameis Winston had another solid effort throwing for 273 yards and 2 touchdowns. The Seminoles are off next week before they play Louisville on Thursday, October 30th.

I myself am a Notre Dame fan. Win with class, lose with class as well. If we blame anyone it should be ourselves. We had plays that just didnt develope and missed opportunities. I love the passion from everyone but when you fall you have to hold your head high. Every dog has its day, so ND fans look forward to a rematch. Now that would be a game. FSU played strong as we knew they would. Im happy it was a nail biter. Games like that are the ones that you remember. The ones that moved you, the ones for history books. Bobby Mock Based on where the DB lined up and his stepping into the receiver off the snap, that's a tough call. Not saying right or wrong, just a tough judgement call. ND made a number of mistakes and cost themselves the game. ND deserved to win, and those that do the ranking will take that into consideration. Both teams should be in the playoff just for that game alone. FSU gets the W, ND gets the respect for their dominance.

It was the correct call, what he should have done was act as if he was going out on a pass route and the defender got in his way... Instead he engages the DB. The pros do this all the time, don't touch the DB...just get in his way.

If enough refs and ACC sympathizers continue to claim it was a correct call, eventually the rest of the country will believe it. FSU defender was grabbing on to Prosise who was still within 5 yards of LOS anyway and Fuller didn't block until after the catch... so who exactly was the call made against. Apologists have claimed it was now really on Fuller, but the flag was thrown towards Prosise. Oh well, refs controlling outcomes is nothing new it is part of the sport I reckon. Both very excellent teams, a great game... just wish it hadn't come down to a bad call.

All offensive players are prohibited from blocking defensive players past the line of scrimmage during a pass play until the pass is caught. Both Fuller and Prosise were facing away from the quarterback and had their hands on their defenders when the ball was thrown, which is a violation

From what I understand of this penalty. The offensive player has to stop the defense player from changing direction. This did not happen. The defensive players were focused entirely on the receivers. As soon as the defensive realized there was a pass caught on their left side, the offense immediately let them go. BUT BOTH SIDES had hands full of jersey. The defense was holding on to the receivers, as much as they were being held. As soon as the receivers were no longer in "Scoring" play, they let go. Plus, they never held from behind or the side. They were both in front of each other the whole time. Seminoles get a call go their way, down goes the Irish... Once again, an Indian puts one over on the white man. :(

It is simply this. Wide receivers cannot block unless the play is a run. When its put in the air all receivers must be attempting routes (notice number 7 on this play and number 20 on the first touchdown of the game). When corner backs disrupt the routes or hold its called defensive pass interference (the exclusion is you can "bump" within 5 yards of the line of scrimmage but you can't block or hold). When receivers block before the ball is caught, disrupting the corner backs from covering their guy its called offensive pass interference. Its essentially a "pick" play like in basketball. But its illegal to do that in football. Think of it like tackling a receiver before he can catch a ball. You can't take defenders out of the play before the ball is caught. The ONLY reason this was called a penalty is because ND ran the same play the first touchdown of the game. Jimbo complained, he is correct it IS illegal (albeit a rare call). ND thought they could get away with it twice,but fool me once.... so one of NDs touchdowns at least should be taken away. The drama comes from the fact that it was the last touchdown of the game! Great Game!

2:38 on the 4th and goal play that should definitely have been a ND TD. I'm a unbiased party, as I hate both teams. This was a bogus call. The first thing the defender does is bear hug the receiver before the he can do anything at all. So maybe he did push him after that fact, sure. He probably was supposed to run straight at him, but it's legal for him to run a route straight at him, so what? The fact is the defender was holding first, and made ABSOLUTELY no attempt to disengage with the receiver as any non-brain dead official would see. Note that the line judge who probably had the best angle to see it had no problem with it. At best, this was a 50/50 play where no call should have been made, despite what the shitty commentators want you to believe. Actually, I normally think Kirk Herbstreit is ok but again, I don't know what game he was watching in that moment. Guts to make the right call? Yeah ok whatever. Really, it's defensive holding. Touchdown Notre Dame. Goodbye Seminoles no playoffs for your overrated team. In a day and age where they talk about "getting it right", they ironically are wrong very frequently. 2013 Fsu played, 5 Top 25 teams. 3 were Top 10. This year they played 2 Top 25 teams(were more but they loss), one was #5. It's not they're fault, they're conference is not as strong as it use to be. They can't leave conference, for the next decade either, due to the massive changing of conferences couple years back. Rumor was Fsu, was thinking of joining the SEC, of course Acc officials heard about it. Now Fsu can't leave the conference until 2025 because, they used some tv deal to keep them there.
