Yep, I was sitting by the dugout where the Clemson locker room is, pretty much right infront of the west end zone where the game ended. Easily the best game I have been to in over a decade. The rain falling, the wet field, and the ending was beautiful.

Yea Fuller had separation for yards to come. Kizer couldnt get it to him. Go watch the 1on1 match up. Fuller was winning routes left and right, as most receivers do on Alexander, but Clemsons great D-line always causes the QB to throw bad throws.

I'm a ND fan and I don't give a shit, damn or fuck. ND played like hell in a Hurricane, with a second string QB, played without multiple starters because of injury and still managed to come back from a 21-3 score. Congrats to Clemson though, you earned it. I hope ND finally joins the ACC in all sports soon.

Notre Dame has more talent, which was demonstrated by their large advantage in total yardage. But Clemson is better-coached (both in terms of attention to detail and scheme). Clemson's offense didn't do much outside of the first two drives, but their defense made plays at the perfect times and their offense was pretty opportunistic. That, combined with the energy of the home crowd, allowed them to pull out the win. Good talent with great execution beats great talent with mediocre execution and this game was a great example of that.

+SportsJournal 52 Clemson's D won in the trenches because they were loading the box with safeties and ND was too stubborn to pass the ball heavily in the rain (partially because of all the drops when their receivers were WIDE OPEN) . Once ND committed themselves to a pass-heavy game Clemson couldn't stop them- they could only stop themselves. They had 3 wild turnovers (plus another turnover) and still had a chance for overtime, because they moved the ball like Clemson wasn't even there in the 4th. ND's defense only gave up one score on drives that started on the other side of midfield and even that drive started at the 36 yard line. NDs d-line outplayed Clemson's o-line for about 56 minutes in that game, but it didn't matter because they were sabotaged by their own special teams units. Clemson was more composed, fundamentally sound and had a superior scheme. ND's superior talent made it a thriller, but it wasn't enough for a win.

+SportsJournal 52 Clemson was trying to score the entire game (there was very little "sitting on the ball") and they could only do it when they had good field position provided by ND mistakes. Clemson couldn't even pick up first downs towards the end of the game, which would have prevented any comeback attempt from ND. The facts are simple, ND was not prepared for the first two drives of the game ( I already admitted that Clemson had better coaching) and the second and third quarters were about even between the two teams, then ND decided to put the game in the hands of their qb and as a result dominated the last quarter. Fuller was double teamed (with a safety over the top) and the rest of Clemson's defenders were in the box, once ND realized that they could beat that defense by throwing the ball more they became the dominant team, but it was too late.

+Johnny Clemson I think it would be interesting to see what would happen if these teams played again. Turnovers definitely influenced this outcome. Some of it is due to Clemson, some to ND stupidity, some to the weather. It all played a factor. The interesting stat line is how many more yards ND had over Clemson. Again, maybe Clemson was just playing conservative since we kept turning it over. However, it leaves plenty of questions to be asked about what would happen in round 2. I kind of hope there is a rematch in the CFP.

Johnny Clemson I think Bama will win but I hope LSU will because it helps ND out more to boot Bama out. LSU would stay undefeated and Bama would then have two losses. As far as Clemson/FSU, this has to be the year you guys beat them. FSU won't even have Golson and are definitely not as talented as you guys. ND has a tough game vs Pitt this weekend. Pitt is having a very good season and lean on their defense. So, I expect it to be tough to score. Once we get past them, then we have that potential top 10 matchup with Stanford to end our season. If Stanford and us win out until we face off, that could be pretty much a play-in game for a playoff spot.

Notre Dame lost two national championship in the past two years, because of bonehead coaching. First last year VS Florida State. Instead of kicking field goal, they went in fourth down. And it went down hill since then. This year against Clemson. Instead of kicking PAT to make the score 21-10. They went for two and failed. If the kick the PAT, they only have to kick PAT to send the game to overtime. And in that last TD 2 point conversion. Instead of passing, they made their tired quarterback run the ball in the very wet surface. What a comedy central this coaching staff is.

As far as Clemson goes,literally all teams left on their schedule have the potential to be a huge challenge. Such is the ACC. GT will play tough as always (especially after losing 2), BC has been playing a lot of defensive ball as of late. Not sure about Miami. NC State always plays hard against Clemson (and has looked a little better this year despite losses). Florida State is always a challenge, no matter who plays them. Syracuse

THIS game proves that OHIO STATE was the best big 10 team, but was not playing with a chip on its shoulder, and lost to sorry MIchigan State, but then destroyed Michigan the next week. Michigan destroyed Florida in the bowl game, and Ohio State spanked Notre Dame. I hate ALABAMA, and its fans, but I'm not sure Clemson can pull it off. I damn hope so. Clemson is the original Death Valley. LSU was dubbed "Deaf Valley" in the 50's I believe, but at some point it was mispronounced as Death Valley, and that is why LSU is called Death Valley because of a mispronunciation. Clemson was dubbed Death Valley about 10-15 years before LSU was even dubbed Deaf Valley.
