This was Miami's first win over Notre Dame since that infamous 1989 contest when the Hurricanes defeated the defending national champion Irish 27-10 down in the old Orange Bowl snapping their 23 game winning streak. Remember the 3 and 43 play that Miami converted into a first down by completing a 44 yard pass that kept alive during a 22 play 3rd quarter drive that put Notre Dame on ice for the rest of the game.
