Unsustainable photos go around the world and public opinion shifts. Forty years later, this film follows the traces left by this terrible event in those who experienced it: Fred Widmer, a former Charlie Company GI, Ron Haeberle, the photographer who caused the scandal, and
Larry Colburn, a former GI who stepped in to end the carnage. He returns to My Lai, to meet the Vietnamese survivors. In the snowy suburbs of Cleveland, in an ordinary high school in Pittsburgh and the sparkling rice fields of My Lai, the film delves into their memories and tells of these ghosts that still haunt each of them.
