The whole point of playing Minecraft on Windows XP is putting up with the challenge to run Minecraft on an actual Windows XP machine. A Windows 10 reskin takes the whole challenge away.

As someone who occasionally plays Minecraft on my old genuine XP machine, it feels so weird seeing the "Microsoft 1.19.3" title bar in Luna theme. Since Windows XP and Windows Vista can only launch 1.16.5 at the newest due to 1.17 and newer requiring Java 16 which is only compatible with Windows 7 and newer.

May I ask what launcher you used? Ever since the account merge thing, I haven't been able to launch the game on my genuine XP machine using the vanilla launcher or MultiMC, as the latest version of those that run on XP doesn't have compatibility with Microsoft Accounts. I haven't looked at FTB but I doubt that'll run on Win XP.

I use ATLauncher (not TLauncher!! two totally different launchers). You need to use the Portable version though since the Setup version is not compatible but Portable works fine in all versions up to 1.16.5. Although this launcher can launch all the way to 1.19.4, in order to launch 1.17 you would need to find a way to get Java 16 working on your XP machine (or Java 17 for 1.18+).

it's not difficult to boot actual Windows XP on 4th gen Intel (Haswell) chips. you'd have to get Windows XP Integral Edition, which is mostly vanilla XP that is getting unofficial driver/update support.

@@NotroDan yes it does i have used that OS on my 2nd pc and it has the Start up sound also look at my comment, plus 1.19.3 can run on windows xp with the onecoreapi which allows you to install some modern programs on xp, just like vista's extended kernal

intel ivy bridge (haswell works however) and nvidia maxwell (though minecraft 1.19.3 wont run on real windows xp, only 1.16.5) an intel i5 3470 isnt much worse than an i5 4460 and a gtx 970 isnt much worse than a 1060 other than the vram decrease from 6 gigs to "4 gigs" (3.5 gigs + 512 megs of really slow ram) if you wanted the fastest windows xp pc it would be a gtx titan x paired with an i7 4790k

@@NotroDan Well, it would definetely be a technical challenge considering the current official launcher doesn't support it! You can technically still use the old launcher but it doesn't support Microsoft authentication (I did kind of get it working a while ago but never finished it). Umm and then there's the fact that the latest version requires Java 17! I don't think you'll find that for XP anywhere. :P there's also the more advanced graphics on the new versions. I did see an interesting reddit post though. I linked it on the Discord server.
