As a 27 year old black woman, I’ll say this. Do I think he needs a break from social media for his own mental state, absolutely because it can really take a toll. Do I completely blame him for his crash out, no. One thing about the internet is that people get very bold and comfortable behind a screen. His joke, I didn’t think was funny but I also didn’t think it was that offensive. I mean with the way trump has been talking and the way he has a lot of these men comfortable saying “your body, my choice”, he was kind of right, RIP women, we are going to be fucked. Everybody has been making jokes, especially on twitter and TikTok as some sort of coping mechanism because we know what’s to come. Telling someone to kill themselves will never be okay to me though, that’s never a proper response especially to someone with mental health issues. But I can also understand the whole “being internet responsible”. He could’ve left it at the apology, but at the end of the day we are all human, certain things will trigger us to crash out. Btw I’m not necessarily defending him because honestly idk the kid like that. I’m just tired of all the hate when it’s easier for all of us to be more empathetic and treat others how we want to be treated. But I digress…

I also think what he said wasn’t even something to be mad about. people online saying “i finally have a reason to hate him” uhhhh no one said you had to like him??? yet they take this opportunity to hate on a random dude on the internet. for what?? i don’t get it unless the dude did something REALLY horrible. like criminal worthy stuff man 😭 i dont know, i just don’t get the extreme hate. He's just a kid. Being over 18 doesn't immediately qualify you as knowing everything and having all societal skills mastered. I think he relies on social media for support (which is not healthy at all, and I think he has become too comfortable with sharing his life on social media and his making himself very vulnerable), and that’s why when he seems to be going through a hard time, he goes back to social media. It’s not healthy at all and he should change that habit, but right now he is too unstable to realise that. He needs support from close family and friends and *they* need to tell him to get off the internet. He is spiralling and he will only get worse and I don’t think he is stable enough to figure a way out. It’s very understandable that he’s upset that people are threatening him, encouraging him to off himself, and call him slurs. He doesn’t deserve that at all. But again, got too mentally unstable from it and he had gotten too comfortable with the internet and unfortunately decided to respond in an irresponsible way. It’s not justifiable, but understandable. Different people are affected in different ways by things, and while many people may not do the same that Beomhan did in this situation, there are also many people who would’ve. No one can tell how mentally unstable he is as no one has been in his situation or knows how he is feeling. I’m worried, because he seems very close to the edge. I hope he can get support as soon as possible.

The funny thing is that he only cussed at the people who sent death threats to him on the live and on twt which I don't blame him for. He has been through so much bro. He has been jumped twice in NY and people have said the worst about him. Yes he made an insensitive joke (which was unfunny) but the hate is too much now. I have seen so many people joke about the election on platforms like TT and nobody bats an eye. He is young and struggles with ADHD and other mental illnesses yet every other month I see hate comments surfacing about him. It's always pro mental health until it comes to idols (or in his case almost idol). If I were him I would just step back and live a quiet life because no matter what he says he will never be good enough for the people who hate him. And AGAIN! It's okay to be angry and reprimand him for his statement but telling a living person to just die is waaayyyy to far. The same way I feel about funeral wreaths being sent to Seunghan is the same way I feel about these death threats. We have lost too many of these young souls to malicious comments. Anyways I hope the days ahead will be brighter for everyone.

I've seen people saying that what he did on that live wasn't justified and I completely AGREE. However, I also saw some people say he is simply a bad person, and I think it is important to acknowledge he has what seems like hyperactive ADHD and has been open about having depression for a long time which caused him to become an easy target for people who hate neurodivergent people ( so...most people). People have been using him as a target for hate and ableism since his earlier days on TikTok and I think he finally met his breaking point. As a woman, I don’t feel like anything Beomhan has said was wrong. It was clear he was joking about the election results and many women did the same thing. I understand it’s a sensitive topic but in the same breath who do they think we’re the majority of trump supporters… men. It’s not easy to feel sympathy for others when you haven’t been in their position (for lots of people) so just as Beomhan didn’t fully grasp the potential severity of this situation his commenters were insensitive about his suicidal ideation (which imo is a lot more severe than the initial statements made by Beomhan). I think at the end of the day people just need to grow up and realise that even if you call someone out for something you deem to be disrespectful they don’t have to listen to you or care. I accept his apology but I do hope he decides to do some research into the history of reproductive rights and see why it continues to be a touchy and serious subject for many women (especially black woc in the West)
@mistywolfmulti263927 күн бұрын
yeah exactly, i don't really get why people are talking about it like what he said was equally as bad as people telling him to khs especially when they know his history with that. To me it was just a kind of bad joke, but clearly not malicious. The bigger issue here is that it doesn't seem like he is in a good mental space to handle these types of negative comments. He is responding to the most extreme ones which makes it seem like he is getting angry at everyone who slightly criticized him, which I don't think is true. Overall I think he's a good guy, and I think he would be a lot happier if he got off the internet, but I don't really know him at the end of the day so I guess that's all I can say about this. (I will say I heavily disagree with him about the dating thing though, especially after what happened to Seunghan, but that seemed like a pretty old clip so his views may have changed on that)

A lot of women including myself voted for Trump. What's the issue is the left wing media demonizing Trump and Trump supporters. Have you seen all the leftist losing their minds on social media, specifically TikTok? The fact that if you wear a Trump hat you could get assaulted. A lot of people who are leftist really believe their rights are going to be taken away. It's insane. The media was saying that he was going to start ww3. Look at what Biden is doing right now right before he leaves. One thing I can say to anyone who really hates Trump, watch full interviews, watch media from both sides and the source and see how things are portrayed. Really start to question why there's so much attack on this man. The presidents who went against the establishment are usually assassinated or attempted.

its so hypocritical of him to say "be mindful of your words to strangers" when one of the viral clips from his crashout live is him calling women who were calling him out bitches and when someone asked "what did you just call me" he replied with "i called you a fucking bitch". using degrading insults towards women while you're in the middle of a misogyny controversy is...

People think managers are there to control the artist but the reality is that all idols/artist need a manager FOR THIS EXACT REASON, kpop idols have someone watching their live to avoid situations like this. You would think that someone who claims "used to be a trainee" under a label, he would understand the consequences of saying this type of things. This is coming from someone that’s been a fan of Beomhan for such a long time, so i feel like i need to talk about this. Like Seb said, he should have stopped after the apology. It was obviously very insensitive to joke about that, but he simply did not care that the things he said affected other people and his fans. For him, it would all be okay if no one called him out for it, that’s when he took back his apology. Obviously, i’m not saying that people are right for saying those things, because they are just as wrong. He said something really bad that he shouldn’t have, we get that, but the fact that some people feel like it’s okay to tell him to k*ll himself is absurd. Also, going live to just curse at people wouldn’t make things any better, but it really seems like he’s not okay. I just hope that someone close to him can reach out and tell him to get much needed help. Anyway, this year has been such a mess and i thought that since the year is FINALLY ending, there wouldn’t be any more scandals/drama, but it seems like i was wrong.

I've been a fan of Beomhan's since early 2023 and I'm a woman in America, here are my thoughts: I know that this definitely does not apply to everyone and maybe I can't read the room or something, but from my perspective, he was trying to make light of a tough situation and was telling us to take care of ourselves, aka the "go shopping" part. Yeah, his delivery might have been iffy, but I don't think he had any malicious intent. This doesn't mean that I excuse his response. REMINDER, THIS IS MY POINT OF VIEW, YOU'RE ALLOWED TO FEEL OFFENDED AND DISAGREE WITH ME. Second point: The dating comment about idols was something he was taught while being a trainee. Almost every idol is taught that, he addressed that months ago and stated that he didn't believe that anymore. Third point: Taking back the apology was a super, super dumb and crappy move on his part. He shouldn't have done that. Fourth point (The crash-out): Besides the slurs he used, I honestly think he has every right to call out the people leaving him death threats. Not via live maybe, that's not the best idea, but leaving death threats is so fucking messed up. I was suicidal at many points in my life, and I know damn well that every comment hits harder in that state. People turned on him so randomly even before all of this and he was getting harassed, belittled, and legit bullied online for stupid reasons. I doubt that the "crash out" was only because of the current situation. I know damn well if I was a public figure who had fake SA allegations created to ruin my career, was made fun of for talking about my struggles, and was bashed for something dumb I said after apologizing too, I'd be just as pissed, maybe even more. Fifth point: The video that Sebastine is reacting to is.. weird to say the least. They brought up past controversies that had already been resolved in a video about a current issue. Maybe it was to make the video longer, get more comments, I don't know. But if they wanted a purely informational video, everything else was unnecessary. All they did was create a bigger hate train for a clearly unstable person. Final thoughts: Yeah, what he said was wrong. How he reacted (taking back the apology), was even worse. But I don't understand the people who are so surprised that he got fed up with the harassment he's been receiving the past two years. He needs a break. REMINDER BEFORE YOU REPLY: I'm not justifying his behavior, he was wrong. These are just my thoughts. Please don't fight with me or be nasty in the replies, I don't want a billion notifications. Love y'all

Honestly for a kpop trainee who almost debuted as an idol, you would think he would know better NOT to respond to hate tweets or any tweets AT ALL. I was under the impression that part of the idol trainee program is to learn these basic things. Either that wasn't the case for his previous label, or he's just... bad at this. As harsh as this may seem, his label was right with removing him. If this was how he stress reacts to online comments, I can't imagine how he is in a work setting. And I am basing this analysis on his livestreams in while he was still at his previous label.

I feel like using humor in rough situations can work fine as a coping mechanism and isn’t always harmful with the right people, but Beomhan doesn’t seem to have enough of a filter to know what’s okay on the internet vs. what’s okay in real life. His response to the whole situation is what really made it worse imo. If he had handled it better it could have been salvaged and he would have had hate, but most people could have forgiven him and left it in the past. Based on the way he’s talked about other issues and his own history, he might use humor and the dismissal of important negative things as a way to make them hurt him less, and he didn’t think before doing the same on the internet where he can be seen by anyone. I hope he takes a break from the internet and gets some help. I feel bad for him, but he messed up and he’ll have to fix it if he wants his life back.

Yk there's a lot of issues with Beomhan. Most importantly this kid needs therapy and his phone taken away. But a huge issue is also that he went so viral unfortunately bc the majority of his fans fetishize Asian guys. Beomhan isn't even an idol. He was a trainee but never debuted. His solo debut was not Kpop or had anything to do with the industry. The song was ass but hey that's fine. The problem is he then hosted a challenge where the best remix would get released together with I believe $1000 for the winner. They never actually got compensated and so he tried to bury the whole thing. So what's left is that so many people "stan" a random dude who spread misinformation, threatened su1c1de multiple times, is holding onto his time as a trainee and actively exploits the fact that so many people only like him cuz he's Asian. The entire situation is bad but yeah get that kid into therapy.

Honestly, he shouldn't be joking about matters as garsh as this, or at least this soon, and he should've taken accountability and left it at that. With that in mind, I also dont think it was justifiable to call someone a slur, or repeat it on his end, or tell them to kys. That honestly is messed up. I don't know that I agree that he should just eat the consequences. Telling someone to kms especially when you already know this person has ideation is disgusting. What he said was inappropriate and not funny, but I don't feel like his intentions were to be offensive. He has a bad case of spewing things out of his mouth before thinking or preparing it to come across the way he intends. There is an appropriate response to what he said and that's to let him know it's not cool and that it made you feel uncomfortable. It's not tell him he's worthless, call him the "r" word, and that he should not exist anymore. People behind screens really lose all their humanity because of anonymity. He was also very clearly spiraling. It's obvious his mental state is not great. He needed more kindness and grace. Not ridicule and threats.

i feel like a.) mental health definitely plays a part here and there are a lot a people talking about that so i won’t touch on that further (which i’m glad about! i’m happy people are approaching this topic with that nuance), and b.) beomhan’s fandom and popularity heavily relies on the parasocial relationship he has with them. yes most celebrities have parasocial relationships with their fans, but beomhan is way more candid with fans than other idols and artists are, so that could be another reason why he made his comment on idols in relationships

I was suicidal due to online bullying I acted exactly like how he acted and still does sometimes . Influencer or not . Words does hurt .” People don’t matter “ “ words don’t matter “ they do . We are human , we all want to belong . You can’t just tell someone who is hated by everyone that “just get over it , they dont matter “we as human being care about what other think. . The fact he has apologized multiple times but people still judging him shows how brutal people are . And he apologized so much until he snapped off because he cares . It’s not just “ you are mentally ill you need to change “ No , y’all need to be chill and stop judging people . Shit I got hate from Jill Stein supporters for voting for Kamala (simply because I tried to stop Trump Eventhough I hate Biden ) And yes us Liberals and people on the left are the most judgmental, word policing people I ever seen . And this is speaking as someone who is far left and who often called out people wrong choice of words Words hurt , you can’t just blame people who are judged say we as mentally ill and needs help . You think treats us like shit gonna help us be better ? Srsly ?

You are a pick me stop twisting the situation, yes he received hate but you acting like his mental health is relevant it's crazy i suffer more than both of you yet i don't spit b4llsh1t like that,he indeed needs to get over it not because he's feelings don't matter,no but because what's the point ? Haters will hate regardless unfortunately

@ for real . Man us Liberals are so judgmental. Clearly he hates a Trump presidency that’s why he made that joke . The joke is bad but his intention wasn’t. Man we really should stop all the moral policing and encourage people to change for the better instead of criticize them for everything they do . We all human , words hurt . Be nice

@@niraxlevi9930you don’t know what other people are suffering. You’re clearly a child still if you have this mentality. Very cringe. You’re the main character in your own life, not everyone else’s. And lashing out at someone because they don’t ’control’ the symptoms of their mental illness as well as you, a complete stranger, think they should is ableist. Regardless of your own struggles, it is not appropriate to suggest someone isn’t trying hard enough to act normally when you don’t know them at all. I hope you can grow and learn empathy in the years to come. Kindness begets kindness.

so many people are against Beomhan right now and i feel so bad. honestly, having people tell you to k/ys because of a bad joke would definitely take a toll on him. yeah, maybe he could have handled the situation differently, but i can't blame him for reacting this way with the state his mental health is in. some just don't understand that people who say such cruel stuff to Beomhan are evil. he should have a break. i hope he's okay. don't have a go at me because of my opinion.

His outburst honestly felt like a long time coming. I feel like this was a result of an accumulation of all that happened to him. Think about it, having to leave a company that outwardly slandered him, having to deal with that false sa allegation, having many hate and clown him for his debut song, having to deal with his own mental health issues and self-harm, plus people just hating his personality. With all of that, I’m not surprised he ended up like this. After that live of him showing that horrible video of I believe the aftermath of him hurting himself, I felt that something was going to fall apart soon. With his joke about the “RIP women” thing, I personally didn’t have an issue with it (I’m speaking as a woman and for myself only, just my opinion and not trying to speak over others). I could tell it was sarcastic and since he is American as well, I didn’t think much of it. Just thought it was an attempt to ease the situation and I didn’t think he had any harmful intentions. I can see how others might not like it so I kind of get some of the criticism (still no excuse for some of the comments made to him tho, especially the threats). But what I think confused me so much is that he hasn’t reacted like this to his other stuff. He has handled other issues in the past before with ease (leaving the old company, the false sa allegation, the hate for his debut, etc.). But now he suddenly freaks out, it was a bit concerning. I don’t think this video was the best to react to because it kind of skipped over some things, both with this incident and with what he has been through. Part of the video made it seem like he took back his apology for no reason when it was actually because of the hateful responses. I’m not saying it was a good idea to take back the apology, but the video didn’t really explain the whole situation well. And I also want to say, while Beomhan isn’t a “saint” here nor am I saying he’s “perfect”, some people are to blame too. Commenting horrible things to him, while believing he should get off social media because he might not be able to handle the comments, doesn’t help. If you’re just sending him constructive criticism, that’s fine, just don’t treat him like a saint nor treat him like a monster. Overall, he does need to get help and stay off social media for a bit. The fact that this was sudden is what’s worrying. He definitely could’ve handle everything better and some of the responses weren’t good, but I feel like their is more going on to why he reacted this way and that some people aren’t helping by enabling him or try to get a reaction out of him. We don’t know him or know anything that could be affecting him behind the camera. He just needs to take a break to collect his thoughts and reflect, then he can try to come back.

Beomhan needs to step away from the Internet for a while. He's not well mentally and the "idol" dream he has crumbled very quickly. He should have left it at the apology, and not freaking out when people call him out for his behavior.

Beomhan was someone I could never get into. His online presence was too much for me personally and to see this is where he ended up isn't shocking but damn. Let's work hard to see a psychologist again and learn to think before we speak. He really should've stopped at that first tweet after f-ing up but that 2nd tweet showed us he was never really sorry. People on internet will always come back at you with double the anger, hate, rage, etc. you gave them. I don't condone any threats going his way but it'd be dumb to not expect it and then crash out cause of it

I’m sure he is suffering with mental issues, but so am I and so are millions of people. Of course it’s different for everyone and he has a small platform, but I don’t see people or myself blaming my mental illness or threatening suicide if people don’t treat me the way I want to be treated. I don’t see other celebrities doing that. He is 23 and he can’t keep using that as a defense against criticism. He also can’t keep blaming his former company. Someone get him help and teach him how to act and be respectful and sensitive. Saying things like “I’m a brother and a son to women” doesn’t mean much, especially when you make jokes about women’s issues.
