Hate hate HATE how Jake Weddle’s situation was completely glossed over. No talking about the rotting milk and hot tub smells, no discussion of how he was DENIED the lights off because “it wouldn’t look good for the Timelapse”, no discussion of the coerced consent to running a marathon on a treadmill, no mention of “can you look into the camera and say how grateful you are that you’ll be able to pay off your student loans?”. Did we forget Jake couldn’t even walk after he left the challenge because of how much the running messed up his feet? That deserves a statement beyond “I didn’t mean to cause him distress”. And to top it off with “oh it’s voluntary”? When are people going to learn that coercion isn’t consent. If someone threatens you to give them all your money with a knife technically you have the “choice” not to, doesn’t mean your life wouldn’t be devastated by the results. Jake being in financial hardship strips him of the “free choice” of participation in these games.

Just because Dogpack = bad doesn't mean Mr. Beast = good. Those are two very different situations. Unfortunately because of Dogpack's quest for revenge I fear the waters have been muddled enough that Mr. Beast will escape any real consequences for his actions. Also, when Jimmy states that the investigators would have an obligation to disclose any wrongdoing or report them, that is patently false. There is still client/attorney confidentiality. The fact that the lawyer was a FORMER prosecutor has nothing to do with it. They no longer hold that office. The firm would address it with the client except for in extremely narrow situations.
@andiooppppppp3 күн бұрын
Hi, im a lawyer specialising in corporate crime investigations (don’t let the pug profile pic fool you haha), but i do these investigations on a daily basis and as an investigative lawyer we ARE obliged to tell the authorities about any crimes we hear about. It’s just dependent on who the client actually is. Idk the name of Mr Beasts company, but in this case, I assume that his company (as a legal entity) is the client. That means that all employees within that company, even Jimmy himself, are NOT the lawyer’s client. In that sense, the lawyer has an attorney/client relationship with the legal entity, and not an actual living human being who happens to work there. This means that if an employee tells us about any wrongdoing in the context of the investigation, we are not bound by confidentiality for the natural person, because we are not their lawyer. Based on my country’s rules of conduct for the profession, we HAVE to tell people beforehand very clearly that we are not there for advising them, but to advise the legal entity or to investigate FOR the legal entity. For this reason, we usually instruct natural persons to bring a lawyer to the interview or we stop the interview if we suspect a crime is possibly being confessed. However, if that doesn’t happen or if we still hear about a crime, we do have to report it. Could be different for the US in terms of reporting, but regardless, the confidentiality is not extended to the employees of client (the legal entity). Hope this helps! Apart from that, fully agree with your comment. Edit: typos and clarifications

Nobody said Dogpack = bad means Jimmy = good. The fact remains that Dogpack is dog shit and is about to get dog walked in court for a shit load of money. Not that Jimmy needs it, but I feel like Jimmy was being mostly truthful here and came with plenty of receipts. If I were a massive KZbinr, I’m sure people could find plenty of reasons to make complaints about me. Some of the allegations are absolutely ridiculous baseless. People will find any reason to make someone like Mr Beast out to be a bad person, when in reality, he’s given more money to the poor and needy than most millionaires will make in their lifetime. Like Adam said, we only know 2 sides, the side of the people complaining and the side Mr Beast tells, but there is a 3rd side, the truth. And from what I see, Dogpack is about to get reamed for being untruthful and making derogatory remarks. Too bad for him. What a stupid thing to do

@YouTubeTeacherRemote2 күн бұрын
@@taylorrenee4880 So you believe Jimmy is a charitable guy? Why didn't he pay Jake or the contestants of Beast games a fair wage wage? Doesn't charity start at home? Allegations may be baseless from dogpack and those will be thrown out by a court, even if dogpack lied about his own existence, it doesn't change what a court of law may consider as bad work practices by an employer. The Beast game plaintiffs talk about deplorable conditions that they were put in, that echo the deplorable conditions that Jake was in? The court can look at that if there is a lawsuit. That shows a pattern. The law will see Jimmy as an employer first. The unwritten rule of youtube communites that people want to follow will be insignificant in Beast games lawsuit. Court will look at if Jimmy said he would pay? If the workplace was safe? Is there a pattern of behavior against employees that violates law? Was there fair wage? Was there anything illegal going on? Dogpack lying is not the answer to any of the questions but the reason and how he was fired may possibly fit into unfair treatment by an employer, especially if the workplace is a hostile work environment and he was not paid fairly

"No Doesn't Mean No" is clearly a play on the phrase "No Means No." The real professional version of that phrase would be "Never Take No for an Answer" like a "Never Give Up" phrase instead. When you're joking about it in your official documents, that is sending a message to your employees that harassment is also just a joke to them.

Also, the “no does not mean no” also just blurs a lot of lines. If they think rules don’t apply to them, that’s so easy to get used to and start treating other “no”s as “you just didn’t try hard enough”. No matter what it applies to, having a rule that explicitly tells you to ignore rules and boundaries set by others just feels like a slippery slope

Remember when Rosanna was upset cuz Jimmy kept pushing the blame to his editors about the Creator Games manipulation, beating around the bush, and dipping quickly out of call? This interview confirms Jimmy's behaviour, it's sickening. MrBeast's response was lackluster and failing to take accountability. His responses to questions about his shady crypto activities were also ripped apart by Coffee; this man does all he can to downplay the severity of the allegations and shut them down before further discussion. Wished Oompa could've gone deeper, or be more aggressive... but that's probably why Jimmy chose him because Oompa's too passive to pressure him like that. Plus, it was an in-person interview with arguably more pressure on Oompa (especially if Jimmy brought his team to meet Oompa). If Dogpack could do a video call, why not Jimmy too? MorePegasus was offered an interview too, but he insisted on an online one which Jimmy refused to do.
@taylorrenee48803 күн бұрын
Mr Beast came out of this a winner. Showed receipts, showed honest sincerity for his actions and owned up to some of his mistakes. Beast took plenty of accountability for the actions that directly were caused by him. When dealing with a team of hundreds, not everything is your fault and you shouldn’t have to take accountability for something that wasn’t directly your fault. If it were my company and an employee fucked up or made an editing mistake, I’m not taking accountability. I’m setting the record straight. Can you imagine taking accountability for every single mistake his employees make? There would be a new allegation every day. Mr Beast is about to sue the shit out of Dogpack. Also, what does Oompaville have to gain for “going deeper” and pressuring Mr Beast? Mr Beast had receipts. He had honest, genuine answers. I’m sure Oompa had every intention of ripping him apart, but saw that Jimmy came with receipts and was genuine. So he had nothing to gain by being an ass to him, other than getting attacked by Mr Beast fans. Overall, this was a good interview and both people were respectable and I believe, honest.

I also want to offer this theory and perspective: If Oompa didn't push back on much, Jimmy would (in my opinion) have such an ego that he'd get comfortable and continue to provide information. What would Jimmy do if Oompa started prodding and prying? He'd probably get cagey and defensive and start toeing around the bush, so to speak. This was so obviously a PR stunt that I cannot (in my opinion) have any good faith about what he says. So I think that's also something to consider, but maybe I'm tinfoil hatting without realizing it.

I have watched Caleb for like a yr now, I am bothered by how many people think he's biased. IMO he is neutral but also was restricted on how much wiggle room he could go with different things. I also think Caleb didn't push back much because he was letting Jimmy fall onto his own sword so to speak, like I feel like Caleb sat back and just let him say things that may just make Jimmy look worse. I also feel like Caleb may not have had much time to finalize what questions he'll ask/how he'll navigate blockages to how much he can push back before the interview ends in either caginess or Jimmy ending it

Even if Oompa didn't have much time to prepare he could have called Coffee immediately and asked him for questions to ask. And follow up ones. And techniques to make Jimmy give a straight answer... I do agree that Oompa was throwing softballs. But Jimmy had months to work with PR to develop and memorize very friendly answers. I dont think any interviews besides Coffee even had a chance

What about fair pay and work conditions with Jake and Dogpack? Mr Beast is getting sued for deplorable conditions and unfair pay 4 Beast games. If Jake was paid fairly for the 19 hour days he says he was pressured to put in, he would not have gone to the screen actors guild to get a fair pay assessment of what he SHOULD have been paid by Mr. Beast. (This imo is why Beast ultimately paid Jake, because in court or labor laws, Jake would have won which means he would have to pay everyone else fair wage) Except the other coworkers seem too interested in making people hate Dogpack versus gain fair wage. 🙄 Jake (and others imo), were paid pennies or not fair at all. This is why Jake would have felt the pressure to "have" to do solitary due to financial hardship. Why are his employees hard up for cash if they were fairly paid? And why did he not allegedly pay minimum wage to the people in the Beast games lawsuit plantiffs, let alone speak of the deplorable conditions, (that were just as bad as Jakes?) It is far more sinister than people think as things like "anyone would be lucky to be in a room with Jimmy..." are spread around the internet. Does that sound like a statement of someone who pays his staff fairly? Quite Frankly he addressed fluff n drama and nothing substancial. Guess we will have to wait years in court to see if the lawsuits have legs.
@seriouslyoverit29713 күн бұрын
I was going to say something similar before I deleted it but yes. Nothing of importance was talked about. Dogpack and Jake had NDAs but the employees that trashed Dogpack and talked to Soggy could say whatever? That is not fair at all either

Only 30 minutes in but I so far I agree and understand what Jimmy is saying EXEPT for talking about the “no doesn’t mean no”. No matter what, there is a bad connotation and it just didn’t need to be part of the document. I like how jimmy explained it in this interview, he could just explain that irl to his employees when it applies. No need to put that as a headline of a paragraph.
@filmanalysis71913 күн бұрын
This is exactly why this is such a big point. I have seen so many people trying to dismiss it as "people think Mr Beast is telling his employees to r*** people and they ignored the context that it's a business tactic." The point is that the phrase is linked to that concept and could so easily have been replaced with "Be Persistent." The whole explanation of the strategy in the handbook was rough, but a lot of people understand what it meant. However, when you pair allegations of inappropriate workplace humor (the employees claiming they were uncomfortable at the company or asked how they'd react to SA by Mr Beast) with the presence of several people in the company that have been confirmed to be involved with or have been accused of being involved with inappropriate contact with others (specifically minors, but not always), and then add this on top of things, it looks really bad. Unless all the other allegations are proven untrue, them using a phrase known to be "anti-consent" in this sort of joking manner only adds credence to the accusations that there was an inappropriate workplace environment.

The Jake Weddle situation is what tipped the scales for me and caused me to conclude that yes, Mr. Beast is an evil ultra rich man who literally dangles his money in front of others to make them dance for him like a court jester so he can make more money off of them. So unless or until he realizes the harm he is actively doing and has done, he is not worthy of any respect from me or anyone else who finds torturing someone for a KZbin video unacceptable on the face of it. We all need a redline when it comes to how we'll make money. Jimmy and the people he surrounds himself with do not have a redline because what they value above all else is money. That's it. They ALL were okay with torturing someone for money. Literally just watch for how Jimmy talks about money in any context. In the Jake Paul interview/podcast thing he revealed that during his free time, his FREE time, he goes around Walmart with an app analyzing sales and plans his next financial move around what is going to make him more money. That demonstrated to me that's what he values above all else. He doesn't value time off. He doesn't value sleep. He doesn't value time with family, friends, loved ones. He doesn't value time alone. He doesn't value quality. He doesn't value having a long term positive impact on the world. He values money and making more of it when, where, and however he can. That is a recipe for an evil person and when that kind of person surrounds themselves with people just like him all it does is amplify their evil tendencies.

Having a huge philanthropic organization tied to a personality is almost always bad. That person isn't going to last forever one way or another and when they are not part of it anymore - via death or cancelation - everything that was built on them will crumble. It's not a sustainable way to make change in the world. Plus it makes it very hard to remove a bad work culture from it. I was part of an organization that was philanthropic and turns out the guy who ran it was a horrible person. And when we brought our concerns to the board of that organization, they couldn't hear any of it because "he's such a good person, look at all the good he's doing", and "no one but him could be this effective." He's still there running it. I still hear stories of people leaving (or being exiled for speaking up) and needing a lot of therapy.... I can't say that Jimmy is that person. 36:40 the fact that Mr.Beast is talking about pushing boundaries right after he "explained" misunderstanding with the quote "No means No" is kinda wild for me xd i know he means in video making or this crap but it seems really stupid thing to say at least for me...

I'm not that far into the video, so keep that in mind when I say I don't really vibe with the way Mr Beast (or Soggy Cereal, for the record) justified the Delaware situation. It's like everybody suddenly forgot that, while in the first instance he was recorded he indeed was not hiding his face, at some point there _is_ footage of Delaware wearing a mask for whatever reason. I really don't like how this is being glossed over. Also, I will always appreciate Soggy Cereal for pointing out the disinformation being spread and the absolutely questionable investigation ethics, but I think we should note that sometimes Soggy used the same manipulation tactics as Dogpack, especially when it comes to the leaked firing audio and the portrayal of Dogpack's job experience (which actually lasted longer than 3 weeks) by a company whose main goal is to actively discredit him. I believe for some stuff it comes down to a lot of "he said, she said" kinda reasoning, but feel free to correct me if I'm missing something. (credit to AugustTheDuck for his incredibly nuanced videos on the situation, huge recommendation to watch)

Also, dont feel bad leaning towards Mr. Beast after this interview. Digest it. It took me awhile for it to really sit, and it didnt sit right!! James is a very charming person and honestly I feel like he uses that for his benefit in this, which is why he did an interview with Oomp bc he knew he wouldn't press him harder. James knew if he did this interview with a non-interviewer (Sorry Oompa) he would be able to turn up the charm and joke his way through accountability.

r/youtubedrama reddit moderators made a response post to Jimmy's accusations. I thought it was a good response. Apparently one of the posts with people defending Jimmy was about whether he was a cannibal. It was undeleted for everyone's viewing pleasure. lol The rest of the posts were apparently repetitive in nature and redirected to a MrBeast megathread, which is pretty standard procedure for all big drama on there

i know theres maybe bigger fish to fry here but the way hes being all smug and braggy about the ethics of his chocolate brand makes me chafe LMAO feastables only partnered with Tony's Open Chain in the fall of THIS YEAR (aka AFTER people began looking into his brand's ethics). yes its better than never but what about all the chocolate they sold since launch??? if he really cared so much and knew the Bare Minimum about the chocolate industry's labor issues, he would have made sure that from the START the odds of sl@ve or child labor being involved in his product was as low as possible thinking more about it i actually think the chocolate issue is a good example of how the mr. beast team is using half truths and technicalities to distract and toss out accusations completely. its so frustrating aghhhh

What the underlying issue is having your business based on predatory practices and then partnering/ associating with known scammers(paul brothers, gary V) and to top it off not having transparency. Cool if you didnt know at 100+ employees you need HR doesnt mean you arent putting your employees at risk with bad business practices. Its not just on KZbin journalism its his own practices that are causing loss.

I think the issue with Jimmy reaching out to other creators to cover this is that its "MrBeast". Whoever he goes to they know they will be paid well and get hundreds of thousands of viewers to boost their own channels. Jimmy knows who to "ask" this to and knows who will be on his side or at least not press him on things. Soggy's video didn't disprove anything against Jimmy. Just showing dogpack as being a shady character amongst many that find themselves with Jimmy. Its a huge power imbalanace. Jimmy could have gone to any other creators who are known for their journalistic approach to topics. Oompa and Soggy are commentator "bros". They give their own opinions on "hot topics" without really getting into things. Jimmy is well aware of all this and knows what hes doing.

@user-mv5zt8qd9l3 күн бұрын
Okay... that still doesn't make it creepy and coercive. I'm assuming the context is that people who initially turn down an ad or upsell should be badgered into a sale? That's still predatory AF even if it is a "norm" in the industry.

I bought a lunchmate (Canadian version of lunchable) all this talk had me craving lol. And IT HAD MOLD it was the same issue with the Mr beast ones. The corner was slightly open so air was getting in and the cheese turned blue. I was crushed, but also things happen which sucks. I’ve seen all lunchmates disappear off the shelves recently so could be a packaging issue fr.
@Sillymonkey2463 күн бұрын
I don’t think it matters if it happens with other brands too. It’s still not a great thing to happen and still means that lunchlys packaging is poor.

I realized what this reminds me of. Do you remember that Nickelodeon creep that got interviewed by his buddy. This is that...interviewer teeing up questions and prefacing some excuses before MB even answers. Also "why would I do that evil thing? If I was trying to be evil Id do worse...." doesn't work as well as he thinks.

I don’t blame anyone for being persuaded by him, and I’m not saying he’s completely wrong at some points, but it’s good to remember that we are just hearing his words with little pressing from Oompa. Adam makes some commentary, but there’s still a lot of arguments that can be made against him. I don’t believe he’s a good person at all, even if he’s not super villain evil. You still have to be conscious of who he surrounds himself.

I would NEVER forget the day a friend sat me down and said they were a convicted CM! Never! But he laughs it off and says, "remember this was 7 or 8 years ago". I don't like his casual attitude through this whole video. It seems really rehearsed. And no one cares about a lot of what he addressed. He didn't talk about the actual crimes online involving young fans or the fact that him and his best friend buy, and proudly hang up, 'lolly'!

For the lunchly thing. As someone who works in the back of a department store. Yes when we are unloading our trucks and shipments things get sent to us already broken and having to be defected. There’s been times when cutting open the boxes the knife goes to deep and cuts through the clothes or whatever’s in the box. I do get where he’s coming from BUT it should not be happening on this wide of a scale. Yes there can be human and transit error. But you can’t blame it entirely on that

All this did was make Beast look worse and drag Ommpa down. The later because he didn't address everything like he should have. And sure, Jimmy wouldn't have allowed the interview at all if it wasn't easy. But it would have been vetter for Oompa to have had him walk out or not done the interview then what we have now. Cause all we got is excuses and no answers.
