when listening to these stories you sometimes feel "Why didn't they just say this" it seems so simple but, honestly when you go through this each time, your confidence and your courage are just gone. IDK how to explain but all of a sudden everything is scary, and it just feels like you're in the spotlight and you're scared of provoking the bullies to do more . even when your safe its scary

I came looking for this comment. They said at the start that they had grown up in a place where bullying wasn't a big concern and it really shows when they say things like "why aren't you telling the parents". Which is perfectly logical! But I'm edging towards 40 and I still remember how desperately I tried to hide that I was being bullied in middle school. It's very hard to explain but the closest comparison I have is why women stay in DV situations for years. The mental place you end up in is so fearful and beaten down and full of shame and it only gets worse with time and therefore harder with time to find the strength and bravery to try and get out because it's all been ripped away from you, piece by piece. The psychological damage is worse than the physical, in the long run. It takes away your capability to get help and get out.

I just can’t imagine there’s a student in Korea still who’s seen glory but is still getting bullied till this day 😭 because when something comes to light in Korea it’s never over there’s always cases still hidden. That’s why even when I watch these cases I’m still so sad for the others who aren’t known.

some context about asian cultures, older people truly truly do not believe in mental health. So the dad thinking that the daughter's nightmare is "normal", I do think he knows something is wrong but maybe ignorant? I actually don't understand their mindset, it's like they don't want to believe that their kid is struggling. I've experienced it and even I don't know the answer to it so if anyone does by all means please tell me. For the kid, her not telling him is more so her not wanting to burden him. It seems to be a common thing with asian children where they don't want to be a "trouble" to the parents so they keep it silent. For me, I remembered I always separate things happening in school and at home. To me those are two different worlds, and whatever trouble I had in school, my parents shouldn't hear about it.
@nillyk5671
@nillyk5671 10 ай бұрын
That's a horrible mindset. Maybe they don't want to seem weak or faulty? Striving for perfection is the problem and also hierarchical relationships between people. I find that so weird. It builds barriers between elders and children.
@riana8829
@riana8829 10 ай бұрын
@@nillyk5671 yes it’s horrible. that’s why asians parents are obsessed with their children being smart and having a great career (ie, law or doctor) because that apparently equates to them being set for life and their future. Meaning there will be no trouble for them getting any success in future and it’s something they can boast about. Basically if you have a child like that, you won the lottery.
@Iceydovefrost
@Iceydovefrost 11 ай бұрын
I can understand wanting the world to know because the kids knew, the teachers and parents knew it was wrong but did nothing. The world would know its wrong and prosecute these actions even if he died in the end. Its not a grandiose dream but the way you think when you've been bullied like that.

I think with the case of the Japanese student and his intention to unalive the whole 45 people despite many of them being innocent might have been because of the whole bystanders thing…idk if that was actually the case but that seems to be the only reason in my mind why someone would want to stretch it so far as to unalive the entire class of students and staff

didn't age well because one of the bullies in the glory turned out to be a part of a bully group in her high school. I don't think they figured out how much she was involved in the bullying but she has admitted to be a bystander. Honestly, imo there no way you are just coincidentally friends with bullies and being a bystander unless you enjoy that shit. I'm not buying anything she says but I'll try to be unbiased.
@jenmiranda13
@jenmiranda13 10 ай бұрын
Yep. Maybe she enjoyed the minor stuff but then got scared to leave when it escalated. Or she enjoyed it period. Or maybe the others were nice to her, she was nice to them back, and I assume you can't just leave. I don't know much about the situation but I've read plenty of stories (and I'm a little bit interested in psychology) to see the possible ways she was a bystander

Cases like this frighten me but in a different way. I have anger issues and I'm not proud of it but I've kept it under control because of my fear of hurting people. I used to stab my pillow in anger for context but after I turned 10 I became scared of myself and stuff. I can kind of understand the bullies perspective but even at my angriest, I'd never take it out on innocent people. Besides the fear, I used to be incredibly shy. I managed to keep my emotions under control for as long as I have simply because of fear of hurting people. I scare myself sometimes but that's why I'm in therapy now. The frightening part is...those cases are a reminder of what I could be like if I didn't care. But I do, the last thing I want to do is to lose myself. I do feel bloodthirsty out of nowhere sometimes but it's something I can get out of my system by dancing and singing to the point where it hurts to move. I have realized that I might be bipolar recently 😅

Let's be honest, I think sadly that most Korean celebrities have bullied before once in their lives. Either they where pretty before joining this industry or they have the money to get surgery, which is why I think most of them probably bullied too. It's really hard to believe but beauty is so important in Korea that it really makes everyone go crazy on each other

@@yuukitsuki6493this reminds me of that episode in Tommorow where a girl was bullied relentlessly by this girl in her class, and when they grew up, the bully made a comic/manga/whatever you wanna call it about bullying, and she was preaching about how bad bullying is. When she was promoting it on this TV show, the girl who was bullied was actually interviewing her and she found out that the things in that comic were all the things that the bully did to her in school. She recognized her, but the bully didn't recognize her and she almost ended up offing herself because all the trauma came back. It was brutal.

Bullying someone is intentional. They would always picked out the weakest or quietest people. When I was bullied it was because they think I was weird and they think that it was fun seeing my reaction since I don't engage in fight. The only time they stop was because I snapped and acted crazy enough for them to call the teacher. I was actually thankful that I had friends at that time who stop them because if not, I would probably get a guidance or worst be sent to a psychiatrist.
