I don't think I'm following the first part on gradients properly. When I create a gradient map, it's applying to my black background layer as well as my brush strokes layer. But when I watch your video, your black background layer is still black and your black brush strokes almost mask the original brush stroke. My layers and gradient maps are set up the same as yours?
